I was in Scranton for the Big Boy reunion at Steamtown. I just needed a safe, clean place to stay for one night. The Best Western Plus Clarks Summit fit the bill perfectly. It is conveniently located just outside Scranton, and just a 10 minute drive from downtown. There are several options for food in close proximity, and the Viewmont Mall is just a short drive away with lots of food and shopping. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. Cindy at the check in desk was lovely and helpful. I had been a little confused about the parking, but she was able to show me the map and how to access the parking and my room from there. The common areas of the hotel are clean, although the carpeting could use an upgrade. I had a room on the 5th floor towards the end of the hall, so it was relatively quiet. I did not hear highway or traffic noise, as a matter of fact the only thing I heard was an occasional sound as if someone had dropped something in the next room. I did hear doors slamming closed in the morning, but that is to be expected. I was unable to get my tv to work, but I am sure had I asked the desk staff would have helped me. I just watched videos on my laptop instead, which was fine with me as the hotel has free wifi. The bathroom isn't super big, but it was large enough for just me and the shower had good water pressure. The bed was just right as far as comfort, not too hard and not too soft with nice soft pillows. I was pleased with the comfort and cleanliness of the room. One thing I did notice in the common area on the second floor where you enter from the parking lot, was a lingering smell of weed. I smelled it both the evening I arrived and the next morning. But thankfully it only smelled in that one area. I was excited for the free breakfast, however I ended up leaving earlier than planned in the morning and skipped breakfast. Looked like it would have been a nice selection though. Overall I would stay here again should I find myself in the Scranton/Clarks Summit area again.

Hotel was clean, nice pool, restaurant on site. Great breakfast. Staff was very helpful with recommendations and assisting with all of our needs. The only issue during the stay was while using guest laundry- another guest unplugged out washer 2x. I ended up sitting in the laundry room after that, but there was a chair. Overall a nice stay.

“Not the cleanest hotel”

Check in was slow. The gal who checked me in was nice, but was slow. Check out was ho-hom. The girl at the front desk wouldn't even acknowledge anyone who stopped by the desk. Check in was slow. The gal who checked me in was nice, but was slow. Check out was ho-hom. The girl at the front desk wouldn't even acknowledge anyone who stopped by the desk. The elevator (the one that was working anyway) was slow and creepy! My room was dirty and the bathroom was absolutely filty with someone elses hair, nail clippings everywhere and toiletries that were left behind. The trash had not been emptied! The bathroom floor was sticky and gross. The bed was comfortable, sleep quality was good and breakfast was your typical Best Western breakfast with a variety of both hot and cold items available. I ended up taking my breakfast back to my room because there was no place to sit on a busy Saturday morning. Parking was a nightmare. I had been blocked in by a schoolbus (with no school children) on Friday evening and had to wait for the driver to be located so he could move the bus so that I could go to dinner. When I came back from dinner, I was able to park in a handicap spot (yes, I have the proper documentation with a placard). When I went to leave on Saturday morning, I was blocked in by 2 different vehicles, both illegally parked, with one car directly behind my car and the other parked (no placard or plate) in the striped lines for the handicap spot. Turns out both cars were inside having breakfast and I don't believe they were guests. There are other hotels in the general vicinity and I will check those out when I return to the area. As a Diamond Member I guess I expected more since this property is listed as a Best Western Plus.
