We stayed at the Beachside for the first time in February. We were on our way to St Pete Beach and had a couple of free nights on the way down. We hadn't been to Amelia Island before so we thought we'd give it a try. Like others have posted here, we are sometimes hesitant to book accommodations that aren't part of a chain if we aren't familiar with them. Tripadvisor is a huge factor in making these decisions and, once again, they were spot on. This motel was perfect in every way. The rooms were large and spotless. There is a path from the property to a beautiful beach that goes on forever. We sat by the pool for a couple of hours and would definitely have gone in if it was a bit warmer. The location is ideal - a short drive to the downtown area with lots of shopping, restaurants, pubs and patios. There is a nice restaurant across the street where we had supper one night. But what really makes this so great is the fantastic staff. They are so friendly - the folks at the front desk and the maintenance and cleaning people. They made us feel so welcome and went the extra mile to ensure that your stay was the best that it could be. Its probably best illustrated with an example. When we checked out we unfortunately left a couple of items behind. They contacted us later that day to let us know that they had found them in the room. Without us having a chance to ask, they volunteered to take them to the post office and mail them to our final destination. We were obviously very appreciative but it gets even better. They phoned again the next day to let us know that the post office wouldn't accept our credit card ( it was from outside the US). We weren't sure what to do but they offered to pay the shipping and that we could just reimburse them. We were super impressed! That is service that you would definitely not receive from a chain. We've told that story many times since and the reaction is always the same. To say that we would highly recommend the Beachside would be a huge understatement!!! We will definitely be back.

First time to Amelia Island and to Beachside Motel and will be back! I always enjoy the hospitality and atmosphere of small privately owned lodging and all our experiences with this property reinforced that perspective. We had one of the suites directly facing the ocean. Room was comfortable and had full kitchen though the bed mattresses could be upgraded. View from the balcony was amazing and path directly to the beach right in front of the building. Sunrise from the room and the beach incredible. Pool was open but too cold this time of year. Coffee in the lobby was good and the pastries were tasty. Beachside Motel was a fun escape and a relaxing destination.

“Best value”

This is a pretty basic motel but it's right on the beach at a reasonable price.

The Beachside is a quaint, older beach motel. The beach is the primary attraction. The grounds were very well kept and attractive with the pool and easy access to the beach. The room we had was a beachside kitchenette. The view was the best feature. The decor in the room was very dated but clean and generally well kept. The furnishings were well maintained but very old and could use significant updating.The beds was comfortable and the space in the room was adequate. However the sheets on the bed were too small and came untucked every time you sat or laid on the bed. The bathroom was tiny with just enough room to open the door without hitting the toilet. The bathtub drain was almost completely stopped up and obviously not been cleaned in a long time. Also two of the kitchenette area light bulbs were burned out. Both these issues should have been obvious to housekeeping. The biggest downside for us was the motel’s “smoking policy”. They ask smokers to be considerate of other guests but unfortunately have not designated a smoking area. People are allowed to sit right outside their door ( and yours) and smoke. We had four smokers rooms directly next to and above us. Multiple times when we opened our door we had to endure smoke coming in and despite a small patio with a beautiful beach view right outside our door, it was hard to enjoy that feature because of people smoking out side their room doors and on the patio. The ownership needs to designate a smoking area well away from guest rooms, PERIOD. For lack of this policy neglect and disregard for the health and comfort of most guests who do NOT smoke, we we no stay again or recommend the Beachside.
