This was our 12th visit to Sandestin since discovering it in 2018. It immediately became a family favorite—and as the kids have grown into adults, it’s turned into our go-to gathering spot. It’s hard to capture the mix of comfort, luxury, and ease you feel the moment you arrive. The gated, private resort is beautifully maintained, the property feels safe and welcoming, and everything is set up for guests who appreciate the details. And there’s truly no shortage of things to do across the 2,400-acre resort. Even after a combined three months here over the years, we still haven’t tried everything. There’s something for every age—including us “adult kids” (because the second my feet hit that sand, I’m basically a 5-year-old in a Batman T-shirt again). The Village of Baytowne Wharf is a highlight: dozens of restaurants, fun boutique shops, and plenty of entertainment (yes, even a zip line), all centered around the lagoon. If you’re a night owl, you’ll also find great after-dark options—Aria Rooftop at Hotel Effie is a favorite. Speaking of Hotel Effie - they house the resort's captive 5-star restaurant, Ovide; we gather for our family celebration dinner there every year and can attest to the sheet culinary genius of the chef and the pampering from the staff you'd expect. Honestly, aside from our inevitable Publix run for fresh meat, fruit, and veggies, we rarely feel the need to leave the resort. If you do venture out—and shopping is your thing—Grand Boulevard is an upscale area just outside the gates (walkable, but golf carts are better). You’ll find well-known stores along with some genuinely great local gems. For outdoor adventures Crab Island (a submerged sandbar the size of a neighborhood) and charter fishing experiences are available in nearby Destin Harbor. With around 1,200 rental choices split into a dozen "neighborhoods", you might wonder how to pick the right place and plan the best stay. Easy: call the toll-free number and ask for Gina Jackson. She’s been our reservation specialist for the better part of a decade, and she’s taken the time to learn our family—names, ages, interests, all of it. She consistently helps us find the right fit, and somehow each trip ends up being our best one yet. She’s already helped us book the next one! The atmosphere at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is unmatched, and I couldn’t recommend it more. The resort is peaceful, the rooms are exceptionally clean, and the views are incredible. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations and offered great value for money. We can’t wait to come back!

“Overall a good experience.”

Stayed here for a conference and to visit friends. Our condo wasn't available at 4:15 pm when we arrived, so we were given a different one. We immediately noticed a crack in the coffee pot, which housekeeping replaced the first evening. We noticed bugs (not bedbugs) in the bedroom the next nig… more

Stayed here for a conference and to visit friends. Our condo wasn't available at 4:15 pm when we arrived, so we were given a different one. We immediately noticed a crack in the coffee pot, which housekeeping replaced the first evening. We noticed bugs (not bedbugs) in the bedroom the next night and were promptly moved to a new condo. The resort is very nice overall. The Village Wharf area has nice restaurants with decent food and some are even bayfront. There is 24 hr access through text, which is convenient. We would probably stay here again if an opportunity presented itself.
