Hotel Duval is officially my favorite hotel in Tallahassee. Between the rooftop views at Level 8, the cool speakeasy vibe on the 7th floor, and the ridiculously comfortable rooms, I always enjoy my stays. The sunset view from Level 8 alone is worth the stay — grab a drink, look out over Tallahassee, and suddenly I feel way more sophisticated than I actually am. One of my favorite parts was how walkable everything was. There are great restaurants nearby, so we spent the evening hopping around downtown without ever needing to fight for parking. Also… the crab cake at Shula’s? ELITE. I’m still thinking about it days later. Whoever made that deserves a promotion and perhaps a small trophy. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere was unique, and the whole hotel has this upscale-but-fun energy that makes it stand out from the typical chain experience. Definitely staying here again next time I’m in Tallahassee.

Tastefully renovated older building is a full-service hotel providing comfortable and stylish accommodation walking distance from key downtown locations. Valet parking service is quick; furnishings are high-quality; food well imagined. Rooftop bar has commanding views. Staff want to help.

We had a really nice stay overall and would consider returning, especially for the location and thoughtful touches. The hotel was very quiet, which we appreciated. TIP: Our room did not face Monroe St. (make this request for a quiet night). The staff was consistently friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the complimentary drinks vouchers for the 8th floor lounge. It is a beautiful space and a great spot to watch the sunset. The warm cookies in the afternoon were a nice surprise. There was also great complementary wine and cheese two afternoons by the elevator. We did not realize until the day before checkout that complimentary breakfast was offered daily. It would have been helpful to know this at check-in. There are a few areas that need improvement. The room was quite dark and we had significant issues with outlets. We could only find one working outlet. Even after resetting the GFI, most outlets including the nightstand did not work. The drains also did not function properly. These are small details that make a big difference for travelers. (We sent a message to the front desk on our way out to fix for the next guest - room 512). The hotel could benefit from an overall refresh. Toiletries were provided daily but were small individual bottles. Larger in-shower containers would be more convenient. Tip: Plan for this. Overall, this is a great little hotel in a very convenient location near down town/capital area and a walkable distance the FSU campus with a friendly team and nice amenities. With some updates and better maintenance, it could be even better. (Note walk from baseball fields to hotel is ~ 2.0 miles ~ 40 minute easy walk). I was surprised to see this property classified as part of the Autograph Collection. We previously stayed at another location when it was included in the collection, and that experience set a very different expectation. While the locations are very different, the level of service, room quality and attention to detail at Scrub Island felt truly luxury. At Hotel Duval, that level was not there. The experience felt inconsistent with the Autograph Collection brand, with issues like nonworking outlets, poor drainage and even an IHG label on the duvet, which felt out of place and added to the lack of cohesion.
