“Had Fun!”

Hotel was very nice. Rooms were clean front desk worker was a Gem. Only problem I had was the tv didn't work but I didn't care didn't have time to watch tv just turned it on just because.

“Quiet Ocean View”

Quiet and beautiful. Lyndee (front desk) and all the staff warmly greeted us. We enjoyed our ocean view. Large balcony.

Wonderful trip with my wife. They was busy thanksgiving but the staff keeper a smile on their face and give their all even though they was away from their families on this holiday. The rooms was perfect from the cleanliness to the breathtaking view. We will be back that’s for sure!!

We stayed at the Jekyll Ocean Club on Jekyll Island from Thursday Nov. 27 - Saturday, November 29, 2025. There were some very good things about our stay and many that made us decide this is not a place we would visit again. We were visiting Jekyll Island for two reasons and chose the hotel based on those reasons. First, it was Thanksgiving and we made Thanksgiving dinner reservations at the Jekyll Island Club. Second, it was our anniversary celebration. My wife found the reservation process cumbersome and the people she spoke with, mostly uninformed. The person she spoke with to make the reservation knew very little about Thanksgiving dinner offerings or the process at either of the resort's restaurants. She was told more than once by someone that they would check and call back, however they never did. After calling back several times my wife was finally able to get the information she was asking about. She also asked about gym/workout facilities in our hotel and was told there was none (in fact there is one on the second floor). She was told that we could use the gym at the Westin next door or take the shuttle to the Jekyll Island Club. The lack of information or knowledge of hotel amenities is lazy. When my wife called to make the reservation, she informed the person she spoke with that it was our anniversary and we would like a top floor room. When we checked into the Ocean Club on the 27th we had an excellent experience. The bell hop was quick to assist us in getting luggage from our car and to our room and could not have been more attentive or helpful. The front desk clerk was also very courteous and welcoming. After that, things were less than stellar. The desk clerk apparently was not aware that it was our anniversary, despite my wife asking it to be noted in our reservation. Instead of a top floor room as she requested, we were given a room on the second floor which turned out to be under a family with children that jumped on the floors and ran around early in the morning and late at night. While the room was very spacious and comfortable, it was somewhat outdated. The stopper in the sink was rusty, the toilet valve had a leak and the toilet ran almost continuously. There were scones and snacks provided but no plates, utensils or napkins to eat with. The next day, when we asked at the front desk for napkins, we were told they didn’t have any - they were at the restaurant (basically, not my department). We asked at the restaurant for napkins and were given some - but with a little attitude. One complaint in particular was with the front desk clerk. She was friendly whenever we encountered her, however, most questions were generally met with an I don’t know or that it was someone else’s area of responsibility. In conversation she complained that she didn’t get a lunch break and later we overheard her complaining to other employees about job related issues. When I asked her on Saturday morning the name of the person playing music in the restaurant on Friday night, her response was as expected - I don’t know, that’s the restaurant. While we don’t have a problem with someone not knowing something - a little effort to try and find out or offer to check and get back to us would have been appropriate. Instead, a lack of knowledge or perhaps a lack of care, meant we were supposed to find out for ourselves and do our own leg work. When we checked out on Saturday morning - there was no bell hop to assist us this time. I got one of the carts from next to the front desk and took it back to our room. We loaded our luggage and took it to the front door to go load our car. As I pushed the cart to the front door, there were three employees at the front desk talking to the desk clerk. The front door is not an automatic door and I had to hold the door and try to get the cart out at the same time. Not one of the employees there offered to assist or even moved to come hold the door. When I brought the cart back into the hotel and dropped it off at the front desk, the front desk clerk just watched and made no effort to hold the door for me nor did she acknowledge me or say thank you for bringing the cart back. This was not the quality we expected from the Ocean Club. We have stayed at lesser hotel chains that have offered better overall quality and service. The hotel and the amenities were good, they were not anything special, and that they were outdated and not well maintained was disappointing. What was most disconcerting was the front desk staff in particular and the reservation staff in general. The lack of knowledge about amenities (there is a gym in the building they were unaware of), the lack of follow through (calling back as promised), the lack of awareness as to room placement (anniversary - let’s put them under a family with little kids), the unwillingness to even offer to find something out if they didn’t know, and the lack of initiative (couldn't hold the door for a guest trying to get a cart of luggage out), was not at all what we expected from this establishment. There were other minor issues as well, but not worth mentioning here. The bottom line - we would not stay here again nor would we recommend it to anyone. It was a big disappointment.
