Nicely appointed condo with great customer service, prompt responses to any maintenance requests, and beautiful renovated rooms. Pretty walking paths by the ocean. Our “partial ocean view” room looked across a lawn to the ocean, beds very comfortable, A/C worked, .7 mile easy walk to Poipu Beach. Next to the Grand Hyatt and Shipwreck Beach. Biggest con is a single mediocre shallow pool that isn’t even 4’ deep, more suitable for kids than adults, and the noise from rooms above is somewhat annoying.

We have stayed at this resort every two years or so for the last 10 years. We enjoy the area and the resort. Some of the interior could be refurbished but for the most part we come to enjoy the island, the people and the area. Sometimes there is an issue with the operation of one of the elevators but the staff are always accommodating and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant.

“Great Space and Location but Unit could use some Updating”

Just returned from a fun staycation at The Point. While we were not in an updated unit, the space was large and perfect for our family of 4 (two young kids). The unit is showing its age with cracked tiles and stains on some of the furniture and rust stains on the appliances, but the unit comes fully furnished with mostly all that you could need. The wifi was a little sketchy and we couldn't always connect, but we were able to use data so not really a big factor. We never had any issues with parking as there seemed to be a lot of parking close to our unit. The pool is quite a distance from Building #1, but the grounds are well maintained and the various ponds and waterfalls make the walk enjoyable. The kid-friendly pool is large and shallow with enough seats/shade while we were there (the pool I think only goes to 4.5' deep). While not used much by others, our kids really had a lot of fun in the pool. The bathrooms by the pool also have nice showers and a small locker room so it was nice to shower off in warm water. The front desk also supplies fish food which our kids loved to feed all the fish in the ponds. The Honu Cove Bar & Grill on site had really good food and overall reasonable especially since it's in a hotel in Poipu and they also gave good portions. Overall we really enjoyed our time here! We did get to see an updated unit which was really nice with vinyl floors and an updated kitchen. We hope to come back again!

“Ocean View That Wasn’t Really Ocean View”

We booked a “2 Bedroom Ocean View” unit using HGVC points. The property itself is beautiful. We loved the pool, the walking paths, and the amazing scenery around the resort. Watching sea turtles swimming and even seeing Hawaiian monk seals made our Kauai trip very memorable. If the room had actually been a true “Ocean View” as advertised, we would still have given this stay 5 stars even though the room itself was older and not renovated. Unfortunately, the actual view from our balcony was extremely disappointing. Due to the hill and trees directly in front of the balcony, we could barely see the ocean at all. In our opinion, this room should be classified as a “Partial Ocean View,” not a true Ocean View. As HGVC owners and Diamond members, this was also the first time we experienced our room not being ready after official check-in time. We arrived after 3:00 PM in the rain, tired from traveling, and were told we would receive a text when the room was ready. We never received any message and had to call ourselves. The room was finally ready around 4:40 PM. Our room (7203) was also clearly not renovated. The curtain rail came off, the bathroom sink drained poorly, the bathtub stopper needed repair, and even the coffee mugs were chipped. We also requested a late check-out, but that request was denied even though the room was delivered 40 minutes late. What disappointed us most was that other guests staying in Ocean View — and even some Partial Ocean View rooms — appeared to have much better views than ours. This was honestly the worst experience we have had at an HGVC property. Kauai and the resort grounds themselves were wonderful, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, because of the misleading room category, delayed check-in, and maintenance issues, I cannot give this property a high rating.
