You cannot beat the location! Located right across the street from Kam II. We rented through Airbnb (C-206) and had a great experience with the owner. Communication was fantastic from beginning to end. The condo had everything you needed....full kitchen, linens, beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and snorkel equipment. There is a restaurant located next door, Moose McGillycuddy's (2nd floor) and Fred's Mexican Cafe (main floor). We only tried Moose's for Happy Hour and it was good. There was also a small shopping complex within a 10 minute walk that had shaved ice, souvenirs, general store, cinnamon buns and snorkel rental/excursion booking rental. The complex is very clean and well maintained. There were grounds crews out every morning keeping everything looking good. There are 2 pools located on the west and east side of the buildings, which were nice to have in the afternoon after the trade winds rolled in. Each had a couple of BBQ's, lots of lounge chairs, a sitting area and Wi-Fi. There is also a tennis/pickle ball court. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed here for 2 weeks. Place was very clean and stocked well . This unit was lacking storage space for buying lots of groceries. Full size fridge with ice maker was good. We stayed here for 2 weeks. Place was very clean and stocked well . This unit was lacking storage space for buying lots of groceries. Full size fridge with ice maker was good. The BBQ at the pool , handy to do your protein The only down fall was the bedroom was way to hot to sleep properly at night time. They have a small a/c unit in the living room, but did not help the bedroom. Location was great, easy to walk to beach , stores and restaurants

“Kihei condo with potential”

D105 This is a one bedroom condo with a full kitchen. It is on a property that has a couple of smaller motel style pools, with grills and tennis courts. D105 This is a one bedroom condo with a full kitchen. It is on a property that has a couple of smaller motel style pools, with grills and tennis courts. The grounds are very well kept and boast tropical plants and such as expected. Most of what I am going to write I brought to the rental management attention. Their response was perfunctory at best. Roses and thorns.. Thorns first... We were directed to park in the wrong parking stall in our welcome email. We arrived after the office was closed so we did not discover this until the second day. Seems like a very simple thing to get right. Additionally, the stall is SUPER far way from the condo, while there are TONS of spots right in front of the condo. Seems like a small expectation to be able to park adjacent to your room. We got to walk to Egypt and back. I selected and booked and paid for an ocean view condo. Condo D105 is NOT an ocean view accommodation. There is a lovely view of building C and the grass and flora between building C and D, but no ocean view. The dishes were dirty. Is it so hard to wash the dishes? It is part of the check out requirements, to load and run the dishwasher. We had to wash ALL of the silverware so that we could cook and eat. Very lame. The kitchen faucet leaks continuously. We had to put towels on either side of the sink to keep water from pouring out onto the counter when the faucet was NOT in use. This condo has a washer and a dryer. The washer does not spin much water of the clothes which means it takes three hours (seriously) to dry anything. We ended up ringing out our clothes between washing and drying, just to help the dryer not take forever. You know what is coming next...the water pressure is the shower is absolutely lame. I know someone somewhere thinks they are saving water by killing the water pressure in the shower. The practical real life result of this is that one must shower at least twice as long just to rinse the soap off. Again, lame. The bed has a very large depression in the middle of it, making it very difficult to sleep in. The couch was a great for catching a snooze here and there to make up for not resting at night on the bed. The bedroom has windows that face the parking lot AND the walkway that all of the other guests have to use to get to the elevators. These are jalousie windows, which is to say, they allow A LOT of noise to get in. TAKE EAR PLUGS. ROSES... This condo has a somewhat recently retrofitted minisplit AC system. There is cooling in the bedroom and in the great room (which consists of the kitchen/dinette/family room area). It does get hot in the afternoon. The AC made the condo comfortable, temperature wise. This is largely why I did not give a lower rating than given. The kitchen, while dated, is well appointed with everything you may need to cook and eat well. The home decor, the stuff on the walls, was cute and tropical. We enjoyed the lanai, that has a nice small table and chairs. The condo comes with a couple of beach chairs, an above average umbrella, and very nice drink cooler. These were all SUPER appreciated and put to good use. I asked what my wife liked most about the condo, without hesitation she said the lighting. The lights actually lit the place up so she could see when she was reading or working on a puzzle. Location. We really like Kihei. This is a south Kihei property that is immediately adjacent to Kama'ole Sands Beach 2. It is a sporting walk down the hill and back, though it is right a cross the street. Building D is the 4th structure back up and away from Kihei road. It is easily half a mile walk down the hill to the beach. Summary... A new mattress, a new washer, a regular flow shower head and a new kitchen faucet, and this place would be VERY nice. If a crash pad in Kihei with great AC is all you need to make your Maui vacation amazing, then this is the place for you.

We (me, my wife, 2 teenage boys) stayed in a 1 br, 1 bath unit in 'Building C' for our last 2 nights of our Maui vacation. This is after staying 9 days at the Marriott Ocean Club in Kaanapali. We've stayed in properties like the Kihei Akahi before, and my takeaway is it's definitely a different experience vs a large timeshare resort. There's not much to do on the property...the pool was a standard issue motel-sized pool, and there were a couple tennis courts.... There was a nice grassy area outside our 2nd floor lanai.... The beach was a short walk from our building. But other than that, it's mainly just a place to crash for the night.... Our main reason for choosing to stay in the Kihei area was to be a bit closer to Haleakala NP on our last few days of our vacation.... But at the end of the day, we get way more bang for the buck at the timeshare resorts. Our unit was a bit cramped for a family of 4....but for a couple w/no kids, it's fine. The kitchen had everything needed to self-cater, plus it had in-unit laundry machines. The development appears to have been built in the 1970's or 80's and our unit looked dated....like it was probably never updated since it was built. Granted, our unit was a vacation rental....so other units might be more updated. But at our price point, this is probably the best you can get. And the price wasn't cheap compared to the Marriott.... So, in conclusion, if all you're looking for is a laid-back experience, without the bling and fanfare of a large resort, and if you don't have more than 1 kid, the Kihei Akani is serviceable...
