This was a first time trip to Kauai for my husband and I. We had spent 3 days in Oahu before coming here to Waimea Plantation Cottages and chose them based on their reviews. We were praying for a good outcome due a mediocre stay in Oahu. Oh boy, we have been overjoyed ever since check in. Gorgeous property, adorable vintage cottages, beautiful beachfront access, wonderful customer service, great restaurant & bar on the property. We are so overjoyed with this stay that we are trying to figure out a way to return in the next year! If you enjoy a slower pace, beautiful scenery and quaint little towns, then this place is a must!!!!

“The BEST place to stay on the island of Kaua’i!”

This is such a popular and outstanding place to stay while on Kaua’i that you must make a reservation way in advance. The vast grassy grounds are filled with beautiful, tropical plants and gigantic banyan trees. The cottages came from the sugar plantations and were used as worker residences. We had a super two bedroom cottage with a large balcony looking through the trees to the ocean. We had constant company from chickens, cardinals and other assorted birds. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything you need for cooking and eating. There is a nearby grocery store to stock the kitchen. The cottage was spotless and the beds very comfortable. We knew in advance that there are resident cats and brought cat food with us. The first evening there was a sweet black cat looking in through the screen door. In the morning there was a very shy young kitten that became more friendly as the week went on. This really made staying here perfect for us. They now have a chicken restaurant in the main building. We had our first meal there and the service was terrific and the food delicious. This place is so nice that we spent two days of never leaving and just enjoying listening to the waves, interacting with the cats and birds and just totally relaxing. Thus is the perfect spot to head up to Waimea Canyon and a pretty quick trip to go to Poipu and Lihue. I recommend the plantation to everyone that I know and many have been here, loved it and returned. If you can get a reservation, book it!

Beautifully manicured grounds and charming cottages. We stayed in late March 2026. We rented a 1 brd. garden view cottage. Pictures included. The cottage was rustic. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. The bed was ok. The living area of the cottage had 2 wooden patio style deck chairs that did not recline, which lead us not to spend alot of time relaxing in the cottage. The restaurant had bar food, which seemed a little odd considering the vibe of the rest of the plantation. The food was quick and easy. The location was perfect for our chosen activities on the west side of the island. The pool was small and clean. Great for a dip and sunbathing. They provided washers and dryers, including soap, for free for their guests, which in my opinion is a big plus. Would probably stay again in a larger cottage.

“Peaceful and beautiful ”

About 45 minutes from the airport in a small town within easy reach of the Canyon by car. The property and grounds were lovely and very quiet. About 45 minutes from the airport in a small town within easy reach of the Canyon by car. The property and grounds were lovely and very quiet. There's a small fenced-in pool near the beach and a beach volleyball court. A walk around the grounds is beautiful and can pass 30 to 60 blissful minutes. There's ample seating outside the bungalow and sun loungers if you want to relax, watch the wildlife and read a book. 10 minutes walk gets you to the town with a supermarket and a few eating venues. Salt lake beach is about 15 minutes by car and a good spot to spend the day and see the sunset. The beach at the property is ok to walk along but not to swim. There's lots of driftwood too, so not a beach to sit on. The bungalows are large and comfortable. The kitchen in ours was a little dated but not bad. Its a long drive of 50 minutes to some of the other popular beaches but worth it to see the turtles and seals resting on the sand.
