“Good location but small rooms”

Modern hotel in a great location. The rooms are too small and they do have a desk in the room. But otherwise good. Can be a bit loud at night.

I genuinely struggled with this hotel. I travel regularly and have stayed in plenty of hotels, but this was one of the most uncomfortable stays I’ve had. The room was dark, small and felt completely outdated. The TV was tiny and seemed to belong to another era, and the hotel has clearly made very little effort to keep up with modern expectations. There was no food or drink in the minibar, and the room service menu was so limited that it was barely worth having one. The housekeeping situation was particularly unacceptable. I stayed for an entire week and my room was not serviced. I had to call and effectively beg for fresh towels. At a hotel, basic housekeeping should not be treated as an unreasonable request. Then there was the noise. Loud trains outside. An air conditioner that seemed to turn itself on and off whenever it pleased, accompanied by a bizarre grunting noise. Paper-thin walls. And, unfortunately, a dog in the room next door that kept me awake at night. The room had so little soundproofing that it often felt like I was sharing the room with the people and animals around me. The shower had incredibly weak water pressure, which was the final insult after an already exhausting day. By the end of the week, I was genuinely counting down the hours until I could leave. The location in the West Loop is the one clear positive, and it is a good location. Unfortunately, a good location cannot compensate for a dark, dated, noisy and poorly serviced hotel. Three stars, and only because of the location. This was an extremely disappointing stay, and I would not return.

The hotel is in a trendy part of town and has a buzzy lobby, with a lounge area, bar and tables. The lobby is crowded all day, both with hotel guests and locals from the area. While lively, even as a hotel guest, you may have difficulty getting a table or place to sit. The hotel is definitely not catering only to their guests, so something to consider. The food was pretty good, but the drinks were watered down and expensive. While the price is comparable to 5 or 4 star hotels, this is really a 3-4 star experience. The rooms are spartan chic and the service struggles a bit. Housekeeping is only upon request, and despite asking for it, my room wasn’t serviced. It felt like a Airbnb, not a high end hotel. Pretty disappointing for over $500 a night. If you are young and want to stay somewhere fun, this may be for you. If you are looking for a more premium experience, I’d go elsewhere.
