Very clean. Continental breakfast. Nice bed and pillows. Great shower pressure. Pool is not available if you are interested in that. Sacks available to pick up after your puppy if needed. Very clean. Continental breakfast. Nice bed and pillows. Great shower pressure. Pool is not available if you are interested in that. Sacks available to pick up after your puppy if needed. Grass cut clean. Be careful when searching the internet that you are calling the actual hotel and not Expedia. Expedia is on commission and tell you false info. They said they were including the pet fee yet once we got there, the hotel has to charge the pet fee since they are the ones who actually have to clean the room. Expedia also said they offered us a cancellation opportunity and we refused it. Not true. It was a nice stay even though I was so disappointed with Expedia (which I didn’t even realize I was booking through Expedia. 😳)

“Eh..... going downhill. Still is just fair but I don't think it will be for long”

We chose this hotel mainly because they had tractor trailer parking. We have a truck hauling a 5th wheel, total of 50 feet long. We were taking 4 days (3 nights) to drive from Midwest camping trip back to home. We do not want to unhook the camper from the truck to park each night - it's just too much work, so I find hotels with room to park. They have tractor trailer parking behind the hotel, but the trucks hauling campers or trailers park on the service road in front of the hotel. They want to save the large parking spaces for the "big guys". (Which is a really nice thing.) The truck/camper was under lights and we felt safe enough leaving it. We were told there is always someone at the desk and they have cameras all around the building. We had no trouble maneuvering our 5th wheel. AND this hotel is easy off and easy on the interstate. We arrived at 5 pm and the woman at the desk is awesome. She has a wonderful personality, very friendly. She also has excellent customer service skills and will go out of her way to help and accommodate. She is a fantastic representative of this business. There is Chasers Grill and Bar next door and there were a number of cars there (never go to restaurant with an empty parking lot - there's good reason for that). We did not go there as we had already eaten our main meal by the time we arrived. The breakfast was just fair. Not a lot of choices. We had hotel scrambled eggs and sausage links (lower quality sausage - inexpensive for the hotel). Our breakfast put food in our stomach, and that's about it. The bread was cheap and low quality. I did not see an elevator. This is a two level hotel. The rooms that are in the front of the hotel face the interstate. This highway has a LOT of traffic. The rooms in the back have no traffic noise. Their ice machine worked very well. The bathroom was still in pretty good shape. The shower was actually a very good shower. The bed was a little firm, but still comfortable and looked and felt clean. Our room was a non smoking room (we were told this upon check-in AND there was a no smoking symbol on the plaque with the room number). When we walked in the smell hit us in the face - a smell of cigarettes and a strong industrial cleaner. NOT pleasant. After a while, we did go "nose blind" to it and didn't really smell it that much. At first we immediately turned around and walked back to the desk to change rooms due to the smell. The woman at the desk instantly accommodated us in a very friendly way. We asked for a room in the front so we could look out the window at our truck/camper. (That is when she explained they have a staff member always at the desk and cameras monitoring.) She explained we would be going into a pet room (uh-oh I immediately wondered .... if the non smoking room smelled like smoke, then what would a pet room smell like?) and she explained that the pet rooms have no carpet (which could mean no pet smell?). We took the keys to go to the room, then she mentioned that the bed in this pet room was a double bed. NO! TOO SMALL! We are not big people but are used to a queen bed, and our original room was a king. We re-exchanged our keys back to our original room. The carpet in our room was in desperate need of a good cleaning, as was the office chair. The cloth on the office chair was dingy and gray, so I placed a towel over it to sit on so I wouldn't have to sit on the actual chair cushion. The furniture is in OK condition. There is a small refrigerator. The window did open to let some fresh air in and that is when we saw the feral cats. They have an old storage container with no less than 20 feral cats living under it. (We did take a walk around the hotel due to sitting all day driving and the cats did not bother us. The just sat and looked at us and seemed uninterested. A couple cats ran back under the storage unit to hide. One cat looked at us with a look of wanting to kill us - hahaha - but he just sat there and didn't move towards us at all.) There are areas in the room and hotel that are in need of minor maintenance. Hopefully the owner will take care of these things so it doesn't continue to go downhill. I would like to see him spend a little bit of his money he is taking in for a better quality breakfast, and to clean the carpets and chairs in the rooms. We felt just a little filthy staying there (we wore socks to bed so we would not have to step on the carpet with our bare feet). If you absolutely have to stay here you will sleep alright in the bed. Nothing bad will happen (like other places I have read about that have bugs). I would not stay here again due to the rug cleanliness and the odor. The choice of hotels in Effingham for our need is very limited. I would choose another hotel in town or move on to another town to find a hotel to fit our needs.
