“Great experience”

This was a nice hotel clean. Staff was great.

The staff, cleaning crew, food, service, managers, everyone was wonderful and wanted to make sure that my Stay was as comfortable as possible. They were very helpful and the accommodations were excellent.

We arrived a little early but the nice lady at the desk put us in room that was ready early. Unfortunately it was a handicap room, so may have been significantly different than the other rooms in the hotel. Anyway, I have a list of things that should have been better. In no particular order: The air conditioner had suffered some type of work in the past and the cover was not reinstalled correctly. There is a gap of about 1/2" through which outside air poured into the room at all times. It was 30 degrees outside. I resolved this by covering the gap with towels. It didn't completely solve the issue but was an improvement. Also, The "auto" function on the fan didn't work and the choice was no heat/ac or nonstop fan. I set the thermostat at 72 and finally turned the unit off when the room hit 80. The desk chair wouldn't stay at the same height for more than a minute and should be replaced. The TV was plugged into an outlet by the luggage table, the cord blocking the space so we couldn't put luggage there. The window blind chain has a tensioner that is set too tight and catches the chain when we try to raise/lower the blind. The chain came apart twice on me. The shower floor was stained and kinda scary. I have a whole list other minor things that would take a few pages, but let's just say the place needs an experienced maintenance man. Oh and worst of all, the hot water wasn't. The place is mostly clean and the staff are very nice, which makes up for a lot. In spite of all the problems we would consider staying again, in the hope that we just got a room that needed some attention and did not reflect the rest of the hotel. I've seldom had issue with Holiday Inn Express and I guess that makes this stay that much more disappointing.

“Missing Features/ Passive Aggressive Service”

Hotel room lacked towels and had missing towel hooks. The front desk staff was nice, but only on the surface. They were huffy about my booking through a third party (TripAdvisor). Andrew (afternoon/evening front desk lead) went on a power trip and kicked my family out of the pool area under the vague reason of “Due to Maintenance” when no maintenance was clearly needed. The elevator felt like it would breakdown at anytime. Finally, the ice vending machine room, on the fourth floor, had flies all over the place. This hotel has been a go to on family trips for the over ten years. It was a great venue for some wonderful family moments. Unfortunately, this last trip has made the hotel great in nostalgia only. What renovations had been added make no sense and what remains the same, feels run down. If you’ve haven’t been to this hotel, or not lately, I don’t recommend it. At the very least, it shouldn’t be your first choice.
