My stay at Home2 Suites KU Medical Center had several positives that stood out right away. The staff was amazingly friendly, and the overnight front desk associate was the epitome of what it means to work in the hospitality industry. He was engaging, helpful, and made every interaction feel easy. The breakfast workers were also consistently friendly and helpful, which made mornings feel relaxed and welcoming. The room itself was reasonably comfortable. The air conditioner worked well, and the bathroom vent fan actually did its job. Cleanliness was solid within reason, especially considering we had kids with us. Breakfast was a strong point of the stay. There were good options that rotated each morning, including a make-your-own breakfast sandwich setup, different meats, waffles, and the standard fare you expect. I especially liked the cheese options. Hot coffee was available in the lobby at 5:00 AM, which is important to me and something I appreciated every day. Parking was easy, and the hotel had close access to area attractions, which made getting around simple. I was granted a late check-out, which helped manage our time well. The stay was not without issues. The bathroom door in the suite did not lock at all. It was not even close to locking. Since this is a suite and multiple people are sharing the space, this was a major issue because anyone could open the door at any time. The pool was closed for several days during the trip, and the pool is one of the major attractions for having kids in a hotel. This left us needing to figure out how to entertain the kids without the one thing they were most excited about. On check-in, the computer systems were down, and the front staff wrote down my credit card information. I was not thrilled about that because I cannot be certain it was disposed of properly. We were also issued keycards to an occupied room, which made for an awkward walk-in. The lady cleaning the lobby sprayed a Febreze‑type scent into the air right next to my kids and me while we were playing a game. It was unexpectedly strong and definitely unwelcome. There were a few minor issues as well. The men's lobby restroom rarely had paper towels. The dispenser was always empty. It was also difficult to get the room serviced. I asked for daily service because we have kids and the room and the beds get pretty messed up. The first day I got partial servicing, no servicing the next day, and a mostly serviced room the day after that. I did not feel the front desk person understood my needs in this area. Overall, the hotel had several strong positives, especially the staff, breakfast, early coffee, and comfortable room. The issues, both major and minor, did affect the stay, but the good parts were worth noting. With more consistency in operations and attention to guest needs, this could be a very solid place to stay.

My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights. We are Hilton Honors members, which allowed us to use the virtual key card, which was great because we were able to bypass the front desk for check-in and check-out. I will say that every time we walked by the front desk, someone was there. There have been plenty of times when, for whatever reason, the desk was empty. Our room was probably the largest we've had, but with a very modest price point. The bed was a little firmer than we liked, but we have slept on much worse. I thought that the bathroom had great lighting (for shaving), but my wife didn't think so. The sink and shower pressures were good, as was the toilet pressure. We always love having a full-size refrigerator. There was plenty of drawer space, but the closet was on the smaller side. The gym had a nice setup, and the washer and dryer were kept there, so if you wanted to do laundry while walking on the treadmill or lifting weights, you could do that. That was very convenient. Now for those hiccups. Breakfast: Having a breakfast space right next to the front desk was strange, and the breakfast station was cramped. If you had a lot of people eating at the same time, it made for a congested experience, with everyone standing shoulder to shoulder. We chose to eat out on the morning of our check-out. It probably isn't possible to have a dedicated breakfast area, so keep that in mind if there are many guests. The last thing of note was the thinness of the bedroom and bathroom floors. We heard everyone above us, and I know that the people under us heard us. For what appears to be a newer hotel, I'm surprised they cheaped out on that or didn't factor that into the design. If Tripadvisor had a rating of Very Good sandwiched between Good and Excellent, that is where I would place my ranking.

Enjoyable stay. Clean, modern, good location, affordable, comfortable! Very good breakfast. I actually enjoyed the Humanscale chair in the work area some much I purchased one for my personal use at home! Full size refrigerator! I actually used empty water bottles, filled them up and froze them to provide ice for my cooler on the return trip home. Front desk was cordial and helpful. Staff came around every two or three days with fresh towels. Many of the staff do NOT speak English however! The biggest negative was 3 of my 4 nights I think children were jumping out of bed and running to the bathroom or door. Since I was in the floor below there were frequent bump, bump, bump across the ceiling! Insist on the top floor to avoid this.
