“Great 2nd stay at Hotel Lotus”

We stayed at Hotel Lotus last night following a Dr's appt at KU. The room was clean and comfortable if a little worn-looking. The mattress was a little spring-y. I was able to sleep on it still but woke up a little stiff. It was quiet and felt safe. The front desk staff were nice. They had a complimentary breakfast but I didn't eat it so I can't comment on it. I will stay here again.

“Very Animal Friendly and Clean ”

The main Image is not correct. It is not longer Drury but rather Hotel Lotus. It is difficult to get to due to construction in the area but do able - expect to maybe have to turn around to find the exact entrance. With that said this place is very animal friendly which is a bonus. We have stayed here a few times when visiting the area as it is close to our daughter's apartment. It also is right by a main highway and very convenient for getting around. Only about 15 mins to the city (Missouri) as well as many areas of the metro both KS and MO. The bed is comfortable but on the softer side for those who prefer a fimer mattress. First floor is close to ice machine, gym, pool, office, breakfast area, and was quiet. Breakfast is included and adequate with many options. It always seems to be the same: Pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese, turkey sausage, cubed breakfast potatoes, various muffins, toast, bagels, three kinds of juice - apple, orange, cranberry, cereal options, milk, chocolate milk, coffee, tea. If you did want other breakfast options the hotel is right next door (walking distance) to a Denny's and there are plenty of other places very close by. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but they keep it clean. Elevator has worked find on our visits. The room we stayed in was a regular King bed room and it was plenty spacious with plenty of room for our dogs pillow, blankets, food and water. There was a desk to do some work at and a chair with footstool as well. We each had a nightstand on either side of the bed with plenty of places to plug in devices but no dedicated USB ports so bring your own. The coffee maker is just a small single serve type of thing. The coffee in the lobby / breakfast area was not terrible. Not great but at least had some strength to it! TV was large enough but connection to wifi was spotty and would go in and out often. The same thing was happening with the TV in the dining area so it was not just our room. We had plenty of towels and the bathroom was fine. Not luxury but sufficed for the evening. If you are sensitive to smells I will say the cleaning staff uses some pretty heavily chemical scented cleaning products which was only noticeable in the morning when they made their rounds. Pros and cons are subjective at times but I will give it a try: Pros: The staff is always very polite. Location Pet Friendly Clean Ice Machine, Gym, Pool, etc Decent coffee in lobby Breakfast included Comfortable bed if you like soft Cons: Construction in area makes it hard to get to Breakfast isn't great (but its food when you area need to get on the road.) Soft bed if you prefer firm Dated decor TV does not work great consistently. Disappointing coffee maker in room Like I said we have stayed here before and will likely stay again. The construction won't be there forever and the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion. You can't beat this location. We ran 16 different errands in the metro area within 5 hours picking up our favorite coffee, shopping at Trader Joe's, going to a speciality food supply place, the 888 store for some limited hard to find Sriracha sauce, our favorite mexican place Ponak's (review coming!) a cheese shop, and more. Not to leave out visiting our family. We got our room for 78.00 on a last minute deal too so well worth it! Pro Tip: I think the best breakfast items are the pancakes, and biscuits and gravy, by the way fresh fruit is also available.
