“Wichita Hyatt Downtown”

This is a great place to stay in Wichita. It’s conveniently located downtown. I recommend the corner room with a view of the river. The view will even improve after the green space along the river is completed.

Friendly staff, rooms were clean and maintained. I was there for a conference and the facilities were great. Would recommend.

Loved the room and the security measures that the hotel took to keep their guests safe. The hotel staff was wonderful, friendly, and helpful. A very welcoming atmosphere. Also, I normally have a very hard time falling asleep & I knocked out quickly as the bed was very comfortable!

The Hyatt Regency is a massive downtown convention center hotel dating to the 1990s​. It has clearly benefited from a recent, fairly extensive renovation. Overall, the ​renovation was done well. Guest rooms are a significant improvement over just a couple of years ago, and the hard product now aligns with what you’d expect in 2026. That said, the renovation feels incomplete. Oddly, neither the restaurant nor the bar appears to have been touched. Both are dated and feel disconnected from the rest of the hotel. It’s also a missed opportunity that there is no outdoor pool or sun deck. Likewise, the restaurant could have been repositioned to take advantage of ​Arkansas River views instead of being tucked away without any sense of place. Where the hotel really falls short is the soft product, particularly service and maintenance. From a service standpoint, this operates more like a Hyatt Place than a full-service Hyatt Regency. There’s no Regency Club lounge​ and no bel​l​men to assist with luggage. In short, there is little in the way of touchpoints. I didn’t see newspapers or meaningful local information beyond a few Visit Wichita magazines in the lobby. The arrival experience was underwhelming. No pre-arrival email, no welcome letter at check-in, and nothing was explained. I was left to figure everything out on my own. There was also zero recognition of ​World of Hyatt ​globalist ​elite status. Basic preferences weren’t honored. I had requested a top-floor room and did not receive one. The rooms themselves, while refreshed, lack expected amenities for th​e brand: no robes, no slippers, no mouthwash or dental kit, no wine glasses or ​wine opener, and no laundry bag in the closet. Cleanliness could be better. While the room looked superficially clean, a closer inspection revealed otherwise. The shower had mold and mildew. There were a fair bit of hairs everywhere you looked. The in-room coffeemaker was visibly dirty and appeared not to have been properly cleaned​ in a very long time. Even more concerning, the pillows lacked protective liners beneath the pillowcases.​ Maintenance is another issue. Despite the renovation, the bathroom had visible mold and mildew in the walk-in shower​. The fixtures were heavily stained, likely from hard water. It gives the impression that while capital improvements were made, ongoing upkeep and deep cleaning are not being prioritized. Dining is a mixed bag. Breakfast is offered both buffet-style and ​a la carte​. Tn the evening​, the bar serves ​both a bar ​menu and ​a restaurant menu. Food quality ranges from good to better than average. However, ​alcoholic drink pricing, especially for wine, is difficult to justify. The selection is extremely limited​ —​ think cheap Canvas ​w​ine and ​gas station-quality Kendall-Jackson​. ​Prices ​don’t match the market or the quality. All things considered, this Hyatt Regency feels like a glorified Hyatt Place. If the rate is right, it’s a perfectly acceptable stay. Just don’t go in expecting a true upscale,​ four-star ​hotel experience.
