“Glorious and Spectacular!”

Just spent 4 glorious days at this stunning resort and loved every minute! It took 20 hours and three flights to get there, but it was worth it!! This was my second time at this resort, after travelling here with my husband in 2019. When my daughter invited me to be her "plus one" on a work awards trip in Maui, I offered to take her to Lanai ahead of time to celebrate her 30th birthday. There is so much that I love about this place, that I could go on and on, however I will focus on the highlights starting with the lush vegetation and incredible gardens. Beautiful peace lilies are everywhere radiating a sense of calm and serenity. As we wearily walked to our room upon arrival, I felt like I had arrived in paradise. Our gorgeous room, with a view of the ocean was extraordinarily comfortable and ticked all of the boxes- comfy bed, elegant bathroom and perfect pillows. Even the drying rack on the balcony made perfect sense. We took advantage of the incredible offer of free laundry services that we had heard about ahead of travelling and it certainly helped with our packing. I loved the daily interactions with the hotel's collection of parrots and picked up fish food from the front desk to feed the enormous koi fish. We loved seeing the pods of dolphins swimming just off of the beach. It all felt so exotic. If you are a hiker be sure to bring your running shoes! The Fisherman's Trail that runs from the beach to the top of the golf course along the coast is breathtakingly beautiful. The footing can be tricky in parts but it is worth it. We were amazed that we did not see one other person on this trail the four times we walked it. Our loop included the golf paths on the quiet back nine and the golf club road. I climbed to the top of Sweet Heart Rock twice and relished the pretty views. We golfed twice at the awesome Manele Golf Course- if you are a golfer, add this to your to do list while at the resort, it is spectacular. We loved our dinners at Nobu, where we experienced excellent service and delectable bites. We enjoyed the delicious fresh lunches at Malibu Farms. The locally grown fresh produce helped put every meal over the top. Our only disappointment was our dinner at 140, where the portions are enormous, it was hard to find a smaller option and we were overcharged for a half-portion of the special. We went on to share all of our entrees for the rest of our trip. Breakfasts at 140 were perfect, as we opened the restaurant each morning at 6:30 with beautiful views of the sunrise. We enjoyed restful afternoons in lounge chairs perched overlooking the ocean. The service was incredible, as we took in the views, felt the ocean breeze and enjoyed the shade of sturdy umbrellas. We always found a perfect spot to sit, as the chair-saving game is thankfully not played or tolerated at this resort. We loved our four days at this remarkable resort, that ranks in the top five of my list of nicest hotels that I have ever stayed at. We left on the ferry to Maui feeling rejuvenated and well rested. My daughter will always fondly remember our mother-daughter trip to Lanai to celebrate her 30th birthday!

The resort was phenomenal! I cannot stress enough how amazing the staff were. This was our first stay at a Four Seasons Resort and it definitely will not be our last.

“A Nice, Relaxing Adventure”

Beautiful property and the snorkeling was phenomenal. Staff as usual was super accommodating (Jewel and Ditto were standouts) and loved making friends with the birds! This property gets 4/5 just because the menus were not my fave. The food was great, just not super exciting.

“Beautiful hotel, unfortunate experience”

We traveled to Hawaii for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Four seasons Hualalai and then traveled to Lanai. We absolutely loved Hualalai and it was our favorite hotel we had ever stayed. We didn’t think it could get any better but were still expecting Lanai to be the pinnacle of our trip from everything we had read and heard. Our ocean view room was beautiful. The service was great, every person is so lovely and kind. They are definitely short staffed and you could feel that, especially compared to Hualalai. We received an email about a week prior that one of the restaurants would be closed for floor repair, but assured that noise disruption would be minimal and our stay wouldn’t be impacted. We booked our honeymoon at the hotel for its tranquil, intimate, quiet setting. When we arrived the construction in the restaurant was extreme jackhammering that could be heard and felt throughout the entire hotel— you could even hear it from the beach. You couldn’t use the lobby, gym, pool, spa or really anywhere from 8-5. Breakfast which they moved to the Nobu space on the other side was fully impacted by jackhammering. Giant boombox speakers were added throughout the hotel (obviously not usually there) and were blasting music throughout in an effort to cover it up but it just added to the overstimulating, loud, environment. In our opinion, the fact that this was not disclosed entirely before our arrival is inappropriate for a hotel of this status and cost. We had high expectations coming from Hualalai and because of the Four Seasons Lanai’s reputation and reviews, and we were more than disappointed. We understand repairs are sometimes necessary and untimely, but this was shocking, and unacceptable. The hotel should have been closed for this caliber of disruption. 3 days of our trip were sadly ruined. Hats off to Jinny and Ben who went above and beyond, and that was the only saving grace. They were reasonable and made us feel like they really cared we had the best trip possible, and did what they could. But had we known the condition of the hotel, we would have worked to extend our stay at Hualalai instead of traveling to Lanai at all. They worked with us, but nothing could give us back the 3 days of our honeymoon we spent not being able to enjoy hardly anything at the hotel from 8am to 5pm while jackhammering was occurring, and trying to work out alternative plans to salvage the time we had left in Hawaii. We got quotes through the hotel to take the ferry and move to the Four Seasons Maui but the rates they offered us were more than we were paying at Lanai, and the best rates they offered were the same as if we just booked online ourselves, so we stayed. Thankfully, after the third day the jackhammering subsided and the hotel felt like a completely different place for our last 2 days which was a lovely change. We still had a sour taste, but better understood the wonderful reviews. It was so much more relaxing and you could enjoy sitting in the lobby drinking coffee, and sit by the pool and chairs overlooking the ocean without jackhammering. We were absolutely floored that a Four Seasons hotel with a reputation such as this could operate in this manner, waiting to see if guests complain rather than properly and ethically disclosing what’s going on to guests so potential other plans could’ve been made. We decided to travel far and go all-out for this honeymoon, and we had been talking about visiting Four Seasons Lanai for years — it was a disappointing experience. We made the most of our time and we really did enjoy the last 2 days, especially with the help of the staff, but regret that we had the entire experience. We wish the last 2 days could’ve been how it was the whole time! This was a special occasion trip but perhaps someday if we have the means, we will give it another try.
