“Second stay”

The Hotel was excellent, breakfast is good and not too much. This was our second stay here and we would return again if we are in the area. One tip is most Restaurants and a lot of the shops are closed until Thrus. so you dining choices are limited

“Comfortably Stay”

Room was amazing. We stayed in one of the luxury suites in the main hotel. Comfortable bed and pillows. Shower was large with multiple spay outlets. Staff friendly. Breakfast selection was limited and food mediocre. Need to “up” the coffee quality.

“Mixed opinion”

The room was great. We stayed in the Paradise Suite which is in the Hoenhn House Cottage, and it was comfortable and very relating with an excellent view. The room was great. We stayed in the Paradise Suite which is in the Hoenhn House Cottage, and it was comfortable and very relating with an excellent view. What we did not realize is that it is a significant distance away from the Inn and to walk to the inn requires 96 steps up a steep hill. It’s a bit rough for someone older but not bad but if you have someone who has accessibility issues, I do recommend something in the Inn instead unless you plan to drive to and from the cottage to anything. Overall, Paradise (and I assume) the other cottages on the hill would be great for a couple’s trip. If I were to stop at the room, my review would have been easy and a 5-star rating. Unfortunately, there is more. We opted for the room to include breakfast. On our first morning there we walked to breakfast. I mentioned the hill, so you have that going downhill but also a few blocks to get to the Inn where it is served. It was nice when we went but inclement weather might make things more difficult so take that into account. We were seated quickly and things started off good but went downhill shortly after. Our server brought us our drinks and took our order. There were two choices (French Toast with Bacon and a Breakfast casserole with bacon) but that was fine for us. Time passed by and we noticed others who came in after us already eating. After 30 minutes, the other server came by and noticed that we did not have our meal yet, so she went to check. She came back about 5 minutes later saying it just got put on the tray so it should be quick. More time passes and food did finally come out 45 minutes after we ordered (10 after it had been put on the tray). Being lukewarm at that point, both meals were mediocre. It probably did not help that the coffee in the insulated carafe was lukewarm as well. I am guessing that the server we started with forgot us. That does happen but usually there are apologies and such but ours opted to ignore us and refused to make eye contact, which in my opinion is very unprofessional. During this whole timeframe, we observed the tables being bussed and noticed that the person doing it was looking at silverware and glasses left and if they were un-used, left them. I sincerely hope that is not the norm because if left on the table, even un-used items were exposed to the patrons who sat there so any coughs, sneezes or whatever would be on it so I would expect everything left on a table to be taken and washed. Ultimately, we opted to go elsewhere for breakfast, which is sad since we did pay for it for the second day but after our experience the first day, a second was not going to happen and it worked out well for us. To finish up, I highly recommend the lodging but skip the restaurant. Service was seriously lacking and for the quality, there are far better options available.
