This was our second experience at this inn. Breakfasts are good. you have a selection of four meals that somebody Cooks you and serves you a breakfast that's average to above average so cannot complain. The rooms are pretty large, moderately clean. This is an old Inn, so Furnishings were antique like . Shower hot water was very hot and our cold water was very cold and good to drink. There is a hot tub that was fixed this year so we used it everyday and it appeared to not have a specific hours which we thought was helpful, although we just used it after skiing in the late afternoon each day with almost no one there with us. Our room, the Joe Dodge #8 was on the second floor (no elevator), had 2 Queen beds that could use mattress replacing. But sleep was OK, we slept with windows cracked (we prefer it cold), needs some room darkening curtains (used a large blanket, which was functional enough, but a pain to climb up on the lovesest twice daily to don and doff. The owner, Anthony was very friendly. We saw him a couple times the second time we were there. apparently lives elsewhere but seemed receptive to our needs. And suggestions for changes. It has common areas that are nice and a refrigerator that can be shared but is fairly small. Overall recommended for the good value and great location to all kinds of skiing.

The Inn at Jackson was our base during a recent ski trip to NH. We came up from the DC area to do some skiing after the snowstorm in January of '26 and absolutely loved our stay. We appreciated the simple, seamless check-in process, the quiet (there are no kids allowed in the hotel), the beautiful rooms, and the ample, tasty breakfasts. The hotel was built as a country "cottage" by the (in)famous architect Stanford White. Once a summer home to a Baldwin piano manufacturing heiress, the Inn at Jackson retains White's beautiful architectural flourishes and sense of design symmetry. The Jackson Inn felt like at a cozy home away from home. The innkeeper and the staff are just great. They are extremely nice and helpful and keep the place running smoothly. We plan to return as soon as we can.

I want to start by saying I am in love with this house. It’s big and beautiful with its original details and cozy, charming, modest furnishings/decor. Seriously if I could, I would purchase this house, completely furnished as is. Maybe I would become an inn keeper, maybe I would just love living in a big cozy storybook home! Either way it’s a dream home. Our stay was one week before Christmas. We came to town from 5 hours away for the Jingle Bell chocolate tour and horse drawn sleigh ride at nearby Nestlenook Farm (separate review)We arrived to the inn around 4:30 pm. Upon arrival I was disappointed to see the very minimal Christmas lights that adorned the house. It was nothing like what you find in their Google Photos. Just one strand of lights around the covered porch’s roof as you enter the parking lot. Unfortunately the holiday decor was sparse inside as well. You enter into a cozy welcoming large rectangular foyer with the desk and staircase at the far end. Next to the desk was a Christmas tree and the door behind the desk was decorated. No garland and lights on the stair case or adoring the all natural original wood archways. To the left upon entering, is my favorite room of the house the living room. Here stood another Christmas tree with a wood stove fireplace. Sadly at the peak of check in time, on a 20° snowy night the fireplace was cold and dark. No warm cozy fire to welcome guests and add to the ambiance. Also while the mantle was decorated, it would have been lovely if the garland had lights. On the mantle are some small speakers. How lovely some soft Christmas music playing in the background would have been. Added to that, there was no inn keeper or receptionist to greet us. Just a bunch of envelopes with our first names and room keys left at the desk. A nice touch would be some fresh baked cookies and maybe a hot cocoa and coffee/tea station out during check in times. I have a hospitality background and am a bit of is Christmas lover so perhaps I’m extra critical but I feel there was a huge opportunity for an easy, inexpensive fantastic 5 star welcoming that was sorely missed. We reserved room 02 Josiah Bartlett Room . $226 for the one evening. Located on the second floor, up the un-decorated stairwell, past the stain carpeted landing, we found our room easy enough. Right outside of our room was another comfortable looking sitting area. Inside our room it was just as cute and cozy as the remainder of the home. A large spacious room adorned with hardwood floors and crown molding, a four post queen bed, dresser, bed side tables, sofa lounge, gas fireplace and en-suite bathroom with clawfoot tub (the fireplace and tub were why we booked this specific room) Again, if it were my inn, with my having a hospitality background, I’d aim for a 5+star experience and include a small Christmas tree in each room (the room is more than spacious enough to accommodate this) maybe a lighted decorated mantle above the fireplace , or something decorative to tie in the festive season and add to the comfort of the room. As cute and clean as the room is, we immediately noticed the areas where maintance is greatly lacking. The bed is excessively squeaky, with one wobbly, crooked bed post, exposed electrical outlet, rust ring around the tub, broken faucet backing in the tub, peeling paint on bathroom wall, lightbulb out on bathroom mirror light, lightbulbs out in overhead light of sleeping room, chipped paint on sleeping area walls, and broken mini blinds in bathroom and sleeping area. Simple and CHEEP upkeeps that have clearly been overlooked for quite some time. The bed was clean and comfortable but again, excessively squeaky, with each toss and turn we were disturbing each other and worried about disturbing others in the inn. Extra pillows and blankets supplied in the closet along with an iron and ironing board (didn’t use) The house in general is warm and not at all drafty which is surprising for such an old home with what appears to be original windows. The in room gas fireplace adds to that warmth. The hot water was plentiful and water pressure good. We appreciated the surge protector plug cube next to the bed which allowed us to charge several of our electronics as well as USB items all at once. Our room is just above the outside deck and hot tub. We didn’t experience any noise disturbance from guests using the hot tub (if any did use it, we did not) just underneath our windows, but the light that remains lit next to the deck door, lit the windows up like it was daylight and the light shone in through the broken mini blinds, keeping the room in a soft glow all night. If you are like us and typically use black out curtains in your bedroom, this light was definitely a disturbance to your sleep. We are early risers, plus having the deck light shine in on us we found ourselves awake at 4am. With coffee not being served until 7:30 am, we appreciated the self serve k-cup coffee station in the “bar” common area. Other than the coffee, we did not utilize the bar but it is a great addition to the common space available. Stocked with an ice chest and all types of glassware, to bring your own alcohol and socialize with your party or other guests. An excellent option if you are using the inn as lodging for your wedding guests or you are traveling with a group of people. We made our 4am coffee and took it to the living room to enjoy a fire while we woke up. There were no directions on how to start a fire (but a note at the desk during check in permitted guests starting one). There was a lighter and starter logs provided. We figured it out, but directions on the flute etc would have been nice. My husband had to “set up” the tv before being able to watch it, and there was also puzzles and board games available for guests use (nice touch! ) The dining room area offered plenty of seating. Another fireplace, without a fire in its hearth, but a mantel nicely decorated with cute little holiday figurines. Fresh brewed coffee out at 7:30 am, along with water, OJ, and cranberry juice and fresh made blueberry scones. Each table held a breakfast menu offering several options. Omelets, French toast, and several types of pancakes. Breakfast service was friendly and speedy. Food was fine. Liquid eggs for the omelets, prepackaged pancake mix, but with fresh berries. Breakfast was not bad, not amazing. No one at the desk for check out, no one to ask how our stay was, thank us for coming, or to bid us farewell. Also, no check out instructions posted, so we left our keys in a basket we found on the desk counter and left. We take long weekends several times a year visiting Vermont, Upstate NY, Mass, and NH, usually selecting B&Bs when available. Although this particular location had so many missed opportunities, our stay was clean, comfortable, within our budget, and in a great location for the purpose of our stay. We will definitely stay here again as well as recommend this property to others. Hopefully some of my suggestions are heard and maybe implemented, creating an excellent experience during our next stay. I will say the maintenance concerns are non negotiable. These are simple cheap upkeeps that should not be ignored.
