Beautiful & disappointing at once. This is my fourth time here and I keep coming back like a gluten for punishment. This place has such beautiful character, lovely people, scenery wow! The food is decent overall. They are super accommodating for kids and dogs. They are somewhat higher priced but not unreasonable. There are all these amenities but half the time they are not open or cancelled without warning. The hot tub is closed permanently and the ice skating which is listed is completely gone. The other activities are not coordinated very well by any staff. My biggest issue is there seems like nobody is in charge and the limited staff they have is over worked. The coffee is already run out, they often don't know what people need. The bartender is fine and all. It is the weirdest things because it really is just understaffed and nobody seems to be running the join in a cohesive way. If I am honest I totally plan to come back because its so beautiful and fascinates me that nobody in their town wants to work. I spoke with an older lady who said the town is mostly retired or elderly people and most of them do not want to work - even though its decent pay. They often have foreign and friendly staffers in the kitchen but it's hard to communicate sometimes. They used to let you order breakfast but now its a limited buffet. I just wish I knew what I knew coming in - I even CALLED and asked to be sure everything was open a month before booking. But they probably change hands. They actually cancelled all outdoor activities due to SNOW? Lastly we had a special needs kid and she could not wait to show her the barn we loved enjoying but when we went inside nobody was working it and a turkey was chasing me harassing me and my kids. We got chased out and she was sobbing. We have chickens and roosters and live on a hobby farm - animals do not usually spook us! For most people if you are a relaxing, skiing or hiking family its an easy yes but if you are relying on the place to provide more entertainment you need to call ahead and get details. Oddly we will probably come back! Also the spa is beautiful and just very high priced.
