The resort grounds and hotel are beautiful, the staff is very helpful and welcoming, food was good (but a bit pricey). My one complaint is that, on a rainy long weekend, there is no escaping the many, many children, running in the corridors, throwing food and screaming in the dining rooms. There were pre-teens in the room above us, stomping around at all hours. It was a lot of money to come home tired and disappointed. We made the best of it.

“Good place for young kids”

I booked Sagamore since I was looking for a place with activities to keep my teens busy. Sagamore is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious. I booked a Lakeview Lodge Suite and the suites are really spacious, and have none of the issues mentioned in the past reviews. Lodge 1 is the nearest and 7 is the farthest. There was ample parking. My kids enjoyed playing soccer outdoors, but it rained a lot and we used the rec room. However, being there on a rainy day was boring. The rec room was for a mix of ages and not everything was available, the video games were occupied and people did not leave them or have turns for anyone else. They had movies all day and a boat cruise. For movies, kids already spend a lot of time on the screen so we would have preferred if there were a bigger space or a better set-up in the rec room. Adults were playing amongst themselves as well so it didn't leave much for older kids to do. For example, there was 1 pool-table, 1 area for soccer and baseball, a couple of foosball tables, 1 ping pong table, 2 gaming stations, a few mini golf, some areas for young kids. The lodge rooms are not as big but the suites are spacious. The lodge rooms have a tiny bathroom and overlook the parking lot. They are connected with the suites with an outside door which you can keep open and keep the doors to both rooms open, but you really don't want your doors open since a cold draft of air can get into through the outside door. There was also no door-stopper to keep the doors open, so the rooms were not really connecting. I called to find out about the rooms but they were not able to answer my questions on the phone. In addition, the strawberries and cream package was really nothing because they didn't give us anything and whether breakfast was free vs. charged was ambiguous - kids 12 and under are free but kids 13 and over are booked as adults but treated like kids for breakfast so are charged? I don't get that. Breakfast had a 20+ minutes wait even though more than half tables empty. Service was very good, breakfast was quite good with a ton of options, but we found a couple of things stale in the bread section. Overall, we were rained out so there weren't any outdoor activities, the rec room didn't feel as fun and not as large to accommodate everyone, and the space itself has green grass but a tiny space to play soccer not a bigger field. Since it rained, the way the rooms were, they were a tad dark and felt gloomy. We will not go back. The place itself seems geared to younger children more, and we would likely visit a different place with more activities and options at a time when weather is better, so that we can use the outside space. It was quite boring here honestly, the area didn't have much to do, and due to the rain and fewer activities we felt bored. Usually we enjoy the pool but again due to the rain that didn't happen either. We prefer going to different places and beaches where there are a ton of things to do and are not the "staycation" kind. I will try another place with many more activities next time to see if such a vacation would work for us.
