“Too trendy for this old guy”

Trendy hotel in Times Square just not for the old guy. I prefer more in suite amenities like coffee in the room. Shower slippery with nothing to hold to (like I said, old guy). The upstairs bar has a great vibe. The location is terrific and yes, the bed is amazing. Marvellous just not my taste.

Major complaints: They have a tiny ironing room on the second floor with one iron! I understand not having them in the rooms - sets off the fire alarms. Major complaints: They have a tiny ironing room on the second floor with one iron! I understand not having them in the rooms - sets off the fire alarms. But we intentionally did not pack a travel iron because we were led to believe it would not be an issue. Surprise! Secondly, the room barely got comfortably cool. Cut the unit down to 64. Doubt it got below 72, and the rooms in NYC are tiny! Day temps were high 80s, low temps 68-70. No excuse not to be able get comfortable on a room facing North! Look at some of the recent three star reviews for elaboration and other room complaints. I will say the proximity to mostly everything in Manhattan from the museums to the shows to shopping can't be beat. If you are a walker and have time, you can literal walk down south to the WTC and up north to top of Central Park, which has the major museums on either side of it.

“Ok, but not our style”

When you check in, a human asks you to please use a kiosk pad. The human standing there will offer help if you need it. When you check in, a human asks you to please use a kiosk pad. The human standing there will offer help if you need it. We hung out in the area they call the “living room” a few times, and always saw people waiting to check in so I doubt many get early check in. As a gold Marriott member we did not but we did receive late check out. The young woman we asked seemed to forget who she was helping and neglected to get back to us to confirm our request so we did have to follow up twice. Rooms were reminiscent of European size. There’s a drawer beneath the bed with extra pillows so if you take them out, you can fit a carryon inside to lay flat. If you have two people, there are two slim closets so it is possible to stand another luggage inside. We were not troubled by the lack of floor space for luggage, we made do but the funky smell of the shower curtain with a lack of ventilation in the small bathroom area was off putting. If they hope to save energy, the button for the curtains on the wall and the iPad caused us to often mistakenly lower the blackout curtains and turn off all lights so unfortunately they didn’t save energy on us. The iPad controlled the lights, tv and shades. We opted to have one person sleep along the wall and one access to get out of the bed easily. You could sleep with both heads towards the window and then both have to scoot out of the bed. The breakfast was a 4/5 for us. Better than a Hampton level. Rooms are a little cramped and not much human interaction if you’re a regular traveler and in your 40s or 50s. I called the hotel a few times before our stay but never got through to a human. It was an anniversary stay but no special acknowledgement. Gym has some free weights, ellipticals, and treadmills. Overall, it was a fine stay but likely more comfortable for single travelers. Ok stay, great location if you want to be in the middle of Times Square. Personally, I like staying up towards 56th St even if going to see Broadway shows. Remember, every 10 city streets (not avenues) Is about 1/2 mile. Good luck with your research and stay!

I live a modern and minimalist lifestyle, so while I appreciate the concept, the execution and communication are poor in terms of what you expect and what you get. I expect a king-size bed with two sides accessible by each person, not a waist-high bed that you have to climb over and climb over your partner, especially when she has rheumatoid issues. I asked for a handicap room, but none were available until the next night, and it was too much bother to pack up and move. I expect you to be able to drop garbage into the garbage can, not have to do a hand hook shot to get into the bin under the desk. Looks sleek there, but not functional. I expect wall switches to have signs/symbols that indicate how they work. For future guests, you have to toggle the switches three times to get full lights. I expect an actual bathroom wall and door, not a shower curtain separating me and my wife from the toilet and shower. Yes, we're a couple, but nobody wants to hear anyone else's business. Related, I expect a wall light for the bathroom, not an iPad control console to turn on the light at night. Seriously? I expect drawerS. Not one giant drawer for two people, which also happens to be filled with extra pillows, and those have to be stored somewhere else. I could go on, but the bottom line is that this room is form over function. Beautiful and modern, great location, friendly staff, but humans didn't design the rooms or sleep in it. More like a banker who wanted to pack in as many rooms into a floor and fit in a king bed. Maybe it's okay for one person younger than 40, but for couples and everyone who wants an intuitive room design, pass.
