This was my third stay at the Dream Downtown - the friends who stayed based in my recommendation loved it - and I’m looking forward to my next stay! To be sure of the right fit - read the details about fees and information about the facilities (especially the pool!) before booking - those unfamiliar with NYC’s added hotel/facility fees should be aware of them! The Dream Downtown is enormously stylish - and a wonderful example of a gorgeously playful renovation - here are the details since the hotel doesn’t do enough to highlight them: https://handelarchitects.com/project/dream-downtown-hotel The renovation is about 20 years old - surfaces won’t always be pristine - but the homage to the original maritime theme is so funky and fun while also maintaining functionality that I much prefer it to fresher, but blander hotel styles. There is a water dispenser right in the lobby near the bar area - so hot, ‘cool’ and cold water are always available. The room decor is sleek and fun - and the toiletries by the Botanist and the Chemist are just lovely. The ‘wild thyme’ scent is pleasantly herbal without being overpowering - and I was surprised at the fine quality of the conditioner, shampoo, body wash and hand cream. I bring my own - but these were nice enough to tempt me - (it’s one of the perks of a hotel stay to discover something new!) I swim laps regularly for fitness so the pool holds a special lure for me… The pool opens at 8 and it’s pretty quiet at that time for lap swimming. Be aware that kids can only use the pool until 11:00. I was fine swimming around a few kids who were horsing around in the pool by 9 am - their mother was supervising them and they were well enough behaved. Kids in the pool are a given for most hotel pools I’ve been to - if you want an uninterrupted workout maybe try the near enough 14th Street branch of the Y…? The aesthetics of the Dream hotel pool and deck (or ‘beach’ to use the hotel’s term) more than make up for its smallish size - it’s got a thoroughly enjoyable quirky urban vibe that most fitness clubs/YMCAs cannot match. No wonder it’s a hangout..! The staff overall at the Dream were outstanding - no exception on the pool deck. Each of the two mornings I swam in the pool, hotel staff distributed fresh towels - larger than those in the hotel rooms - and made sure each deck chair was covered in freshly laundered terry cloth covers. Shout out to Latrell at the front desk - the second morning I left my room with an empty key card holder… (In my rush to get to the pool - I grabbed an empty key card holder in the dark - not wanting to wake my partner!) Latrell kindly remembered he had checked me in and accepted the ID I had in my phone wallet to issue a new key so I didn’t need to wake my sleepy partner once I was finished my swim. Friends joined me at the pool and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also agreed the location of the hotel is super fun - we could walk to many vegan restaurants - (a highlight of any NYC trip is variety!) Chelsea Market and galleries are within reach - as is the highline. It was easy enough to get rides uptown to museums - the subway is within easy walking distance as well. We walked to the Whole Foods nearby for fruit for our pre-swim snack - but really appreciated that Natura Café is right in the hotel lobby. After swimming it was easy to fuel up for the day ahead - there were several healthy, plant based options - (and the café staff were accommodating about holding the cheese on the avocado toast!) The café is comfortable and service was friendly. Booking, check-in and checkout were all smooth - Latrell very kindly printed out my receipt when there was just a bit of a lag in receiving the email - a nice gesture. We were offered bottled water at check in as well as checkout - and front desk staff were super nice about making sure our bags were stored safely after checkout. We’re so glad we checked our bags - it gave us more flexibility for the day before heading home later that afternoon. Hoping to return again… even when the pool closes for the season …!

“Family Trip for Son's 21st Birthday.”

Amazing hotel, staff and location. The swimming pool was great to come back to in the afternoon, Would definately stay again.

Hotel was very clean and nice. But families be aware!! Pool turns in to a beach club 11am-6pm and is 21+. My kids 10 and 12 were devastated and could only sue the pool 8-10:30am it borderline ruined our experience. Upon booking I disclosed our two children and ages and did not get any message about… more

“Great Chelsea Location”

Great location and very pleasant stay. Pool deck and lounge area are fantastic for NYC hotel. If you want to stay in Chelsea/Meatpacking District area, this is an excellent option.
