LOVELY place, very quiet room (great insulation!) and campus (my room overlooked a quiet road and a pretty field and woods beyond it), safe-feeling area, comfortable bed, nice young lady at the front desk. Didn’t try the breakfast because at 4:00AM a very bright, red, flashing message light started blinking on the phone next to the bed - bright and obnoxious enough to awaken me from a delicious dead sleep. So I pushed the message button. Young man at the front desk, after hearing why I was calling, said, “Might be an error.” I thanked him for the information, figured he’d turn it off and I tried to go back to sleep. Fire-engine-worthy light still lighting up my room and reflecting off the metal bedside lamp surfaces two-beat at 1-second intervals. Called again to ask him to cancel it. “Um, I’m not really familiar with it.” No apology, and no accountability. Just an “it’s someone else’s problem” kind of response. I wasn’t in the frame of mind or state of awareness to try to figure it out or look for how to unplug it, so I put a washcloth over it, but the light was so bright it was still not a solution, even doubled up through the cloth. (I have nerve damage in one eye - any kind of light - especially flashing, can be very problematic.) If I’m going to be watching red lights flashing in my eyes they might as well be brake lights. So I gave up, got up, and left. A real shame, because otherwise it would have been a perfect stay.

I am writing this review simply from the perspective of a diamond Hilton Honors member. Most Hilton Garden Inn properties are quite similar and your stay will be satisfactory. That said if you are a diamond member you expect attention to certain details. We were forced to pull over early during a road trip due to minor illness and called ahead to ask for early check in, mentioning diamond membership. When we arrived we were told an upgraded room would be available in half an hour. Not the case. In fact we waited nearly an hour and half and finally agreed to take a standard room with two queen beds. Cutting this review short. We noted that the diamond status was never acknowledged in any way, even in attitude. It was surprising and disheartening. Comparing it to the property in Florence further south where even parking is upgraded this is one Garden Inn we likely won't revisit.
