If you want to stay somewhere with character then you must stay here. If you are bothered by imperfection, you will be frustrated. I was here for a meeting. The art deco splendor of this building is one of the most impressive that I have ever seen. Everywhere you look there are items of such breathtaking detail, from the etching on the elevator, the light fixtures, the mirrors. I really have never seen anything like it. -other plus-free, big gym -location The building is old. -The room: a bit worn, is clean, bathroom not big. Cleaning service effective. Not loud but walls thin. (In fairness, I have stayed at $500 rooms in other cities that were as word recently but these rooms are not new) the carpet is worn but super clean and beds seem very new. Doors are very old. -the showers are the worst part-the water is not hot and you have to run it for a LONG time to get warm. They need to fix this -Parking and getting there-I drove around the block three times. You have to pull in this narrow tunnel into valet. The valet was fast but $$$ ($50/night) and I did not need my car during stay but I think there is some limit on getting your car ? -Staff-sone were helpful and nice, some were not -There is coffee maker but you can get carry out coffee in restaurant. Bottom line-I would stay again because life is short and who needs a cookie cutter hotel every night but if the things I noted would bug you maybe go elsewhere. The building is

I had a Hilton free night award to use for an overnight in Cincinnati between two Reds games. I needed a room with two beds and my first two choices were not available so it ended up being a decision between this hotel and the Cincinnatian. I think I chose wrong. The positives: The location is great. It’s right by Fountain square and about a half mile up the hill from the stadiums. The lobby area and bar/restaurant are beautiful and you can feel the history. This must have been a spectacular place to stay years ago. The negatives: Once you get off the elevator and start heading to your room the charm is all gone. You could easily be fooled into thinking you were in a run down Ramada by the airport. The room itself was mostly adequate. The beds were decent but the pillows were sad and the blankets were minimal. The bathroom is just bad. It’s small and cramped. The shower would not even be acceptable at that Ramada - no water pressure and water was still pouring out of the spout even when you pull up the little lever attached to the faucet like all 1980s bathtub fixtures. The showers need to be totally replaced. All in all - there are much better options downtown. This historic hotel deserves a full remodel of the guest rooms and until it gets one you should stop in for a drink at the beautiful bar before going back to your much more modern hotel room.
