Wonderful visit from start to finish! This Holiday Inn Express has a large lobby with seating in front of a gas fireplace and fresh coffee on demand 24/7. Parking is plentiful and check in was quick and easy. Our double bedded room on the 8th floor was spacious, very clean and equipped with a Keurig, a nice touch. Breakfast in the spacious breakfast space in the lobby was well-laid out and continually replenished by the helpful breakfast attendants. Decent options including yogurt, fresh fruit, a hot buffet (eggs, potatoes) and a pancake machine that was fun to use. The indoor pool was heated and I loved sitting in the pool area--warm and humid on the cold blustery day we were having! All in all, excellent experience!

Holiday Inn Express Pittsburgh Green Tree is a functional, dated business hotel that ultimately won me over with excellent service. I stayed here for two nights on a recent work trip after downtown Pittsburgh hotel prices skyrocketed — later discovering Bruce Springsteen was in town. I booked online and arrived exhausted from a red-eye flight around 9:30AM. Greg at the front desk immediately made a great impression: he recognized my IHG Diamond Elite status, upgraded me to a spacious King Suite, checked me in hours early, and even reminded me breakfast was about to end. Outstanding hospitality and exactly the kind of service that can change the tone of a trip. The suite itself was enormous, featuring a small kitchen area, separate sitting room with desk, and a dedicated bedroom/bathroom setup. Like many older hotels, lighting was somewhat limited and relied heavily on lamps, but the separate climate controls for the living and sleeping areas were appreciated. The bathroom featured an accessible walk-in shower, which I actually preferred over a traditional tub setup. Water pressure was solid, and the refillable wall-mounted toiletries were perfectly fine for a business stay. Breakfast was standard Holiday Inn Express fare — eggs, sausage, waffle maker, breads, bagels, juice, and coffee — but the two ladies maintaining the breakfast area were genuinely warm and friendly, which made the experience more pleasant than expected. The fitness center was decent in size, though definitely showing its age like much of the property. Overall, this is not a modern luxury hotel, but it works well for business travelers or families doing a road trip stopover. Normally I gravitate toward newer properties, but the genuinely excellent service here elevated the experience enough for me to give it 4 stars.
