I used to visit the Pittsburgh area quite often for work and always stayed along the Parkway, closer to the airport; but haven’t been there in over a year now, so I decided to stay downtown so I could enjoy being in the city and walking to fun places to enjoy. When looking for places to stay, I chose this Marriott as it was relatively easy to get most anywhere from it. Checking in was great… I got there early and they were able to accommodate me and provided a decent check-in experience. When I walked into my room, the first thing I saw was a disheveled bed skirt, but the bed and rest of the room looked OK. The bathroom was pretty decent, as I didn’t see any mold or dirt around the various normal areas, like caulking and corners. But the bathroom’s toilet wouldn’t flush without holding the lever down for about 15 seconds. The HVAC was decent and kept the room comfy. It also wasn’t too loud. The bed was just ‘ok’ as it wasn’t as comfy as I would expect, like it might have been worn out. The TV worked fine, but streaming didn’t offer Pluto, which I absolutely love, especially in a hotel. So, I used my Amazing Fire Stick and accessing the back of the TV was easy, but typical to Marriott properties, they have that absolutely stupid splash page on their wifi, which VPNs and these Amazon Fire Sticks don’t typically like (hint, get rid of them, they serve no purpose), so I used my phone’s hot spot feature while in the room, which was ridiculous. I don’t believe in hanging my towels for re-use and I want daily room refreshing. And since I typically am our, working during the day, I expect the room to be refreshed by the time I return. So, when I came back around 5PM to see that my towels were still on the floor I was very disappointed. Yet, my last day there, which was the next day, I had Teams meetings in the morning which I took from my room. All the while I’m on the Teams calls, housekeeping came around a few times to knock at the door, this started at 8AM. Why weren’t they this overzealous the day before?!?!? Ridiculous. The shining star at this property, when it comes to service, was the valet… they were all GREAT! Offered some of the best, most sincere service I’ve ever had from a valet. They even had my car ready for me on my check-out day, even though I didn’t call ahead for it. The rest of the stay was just ‘ok’ and this is the second Marriott property in a row I’ve been to where the fire alarm was activated. The one last week I heard and it was annoying and (of course, as usual) it was a false alarm. In this case, I’m on the 21st floor, I come to the elevators and another couple is there pressing the button to call the elevator and nothing’s happening, so they use the house phone and find out someone activated a false alarm on the 14th floor which deactivated the elevators – ridiculous! So, I walked alllllll the way down the stairs from the 21st floor! I wish hotels would compensate guests for false alarms because I truly feel smoke/fire alarm activations can be managed better than they currently are – I’m thankful my half-disable wife wasn’t with me, she never would have made it down all those stairs. And to all you who falsely activate fire alarms in hotels, you’re horrible people. Would I stay here again? Probably, it wasn’t that bad. But the Marriott on the Parkway (PIT Airport Marriott) is still my fav in this area.

It was late at night, and I get what happened but we didn't even get the full break down of check in if breakfast was included, if I had access to the lounge (I did), and just the general everything. The valet is not part of the hotel, so just park wherever, they over charge. The room was decent and the hotel is central. Overall I would come back here, just not a check in late at night.

“80s throwback in need of upgrades”

This is one of the most dated downtown Marriotts I have stayed in. Tub had no drain stopper and the nonslip pad had air pockets under it from age. Furniture was dated. This is one of the most dated downtown Marriotts I have stayed in. Tub had no drain stopper and the nonslip pad had air pockets under it from age. Furniture was dated. Fitness center is literally a throwback to the 80s, changing room has rusty lockers and the sauna is bolted shut permanently. Deferred maintenance is obvious throughout. The fire stairwell literally had dozens of missing vinyl flooring tiles and debris everywhere. very unsafe in event of a fire. This was probably a nice hotel 20 years ago. But it's also priced appropriately so I give it 3 stars. Better business class hotels downtown so shop around.
