This hotel is my go to when in Pittsburgh. The staff of Abigail, Ricki and Lauren are extremely helpful. After a long walk in the brutal cold Abigail went above and beyond to get us some hot coffee and tea. The hotel is situated with views of the river. Bettina in the restaurant is always full of energy and if you’re not awake she’ll get you there with her energy.

I am local to the greater Pittsburgh area, and when the winter weather was uncooperative, we decided to stay in Station Square to be in walking distance of our event venue. As it was New Year's Eve and there were two wedding parties at the hotel, check-in was busy but the front desk staff was well-trained and the line moved quickly. Station Square is across the river from downtown Pittsburgh and kind of its own isolated complex. The hotel has a restaurant in its six-story atrium lobby, plus there are still a few other restaurants offering a variety of cuisines just down the short street. While there is an abundance of parking options including a covered garage and a hotel only lot, there is no inexpensive option for overnight parking. The least expensive is a public parking lot up a hill located across Carson Street (227 West Carson St) for $8 (until 11:59 PM daily) so $16 overnight. There is a nearby T-station and bus stops for those inclined to use public transportation (and a POGO bicycle rental stations). Besides the restaurant, the hotel had many other heavily-utilized amenities during our 1-night stay. The indoor swimming pool was packed with children, the cafe was closed, there is a fitness center, laundry facilities ($2.50 for the washer and $2.50 for the dryer) and surprisingly the convenience/gift shop was open late. Our room faced the indoor atrium, so we could hear the rowdy noise from the restaurant/lobby but we did not hear the cargo train with its tracks between the hotel and the river. Our room was also quieter because it was further down the hallway from the elevator and only a few rooms farther down so not many noisy passerbys. I found the mattress and bed linens very comfortable. The room was incredibly warm (76F) in cold weather outside (18F) but the a/c was noisy and created a cold draft. There was plenty of hot water and decent water pressure in the shower. The room was clean but some of the fabric furniture had stains. While we didn't watch tv, the television was large and offered netflix streaming option. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy Rewards member so I had access to free wi-fi. Disappointingly, they were not offering any late check-outs. Check-out was also busy but again the front desk staff handled the lines quickly.
