Was a little apprehensive of this place due to some of the reviews. We decided to give it a try for a weekend because of the central location. Parking was $27 per night right next to the hotel and under the highway. Check in was easy and the elevators quick. Our room was meh at best. The toilet was not working and we had to have maintenance fix that. Despite multiple lights, the living area was very dark. Our room faced the street but we did not hear any traffic sounds over the weekend. There was blood on the comforter and another large stain on the bedskirt. The hotel was clear that they service the rooms every other day. We came back from our adventures the third day we were there and housekeeping had not been there yet at 5 pm. The room had 1 small trash can so our family had more than filled that up and we were out of towels. We asked if they were going to service the rooms every other and the response was “what are you looking to have done?” I expected to have the room serviced, according to their schedule. Hotel staff had no interest in that and we received new towels only. It looked like another guest had the same problems because there were towels and trash on the floor by the ice machine. The restaurant attached to the hotel had friendly staff but they were out of several items on the menu both times we tried to go. There were good things about the hotel. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast had good variety and the woman working (Timika, I believe) was very friendly and helpful. There was also a man cleaning the main floor every time we came and went, he was working very hard. The location was great, we were able to walk to the aviary and the children’s museum easily and the science center was a very short drive. Overall it was not a disaster but I would probably choose another hotel if I’m in the area again.

“The room is so noisy”

Everything was decent except the room air conditioning/heating systems! We had to 2 rooms and both air conditioning units made terrible loud noise the entire night. Our only option to finally sleep was to just turn off the units and sweat rather than listen to them Clunk and rattle all night. These… more

Everything was decent except the room air conditioning/heating systems! We had to 2 rooms and both air conditioning units made terrible loud noise the entire night. Our only option to finally sleep was to just turn off the units and sweat rather than listen to them Clunk and rattle all night. These units definitely need fixed.

“Aging hotel slated for the Wrecking Ball? Sewer Ice!?”

Plusses: Staff was nice enough. Great water pressure in the shower. Breakfast passable. Nice restaurant/bar on premises. GREAT location if going to a Pirates or Steelers game as it's an easy walk. Minuses: The rooms are roomy & decent enough but the 1980s bathrooms and lack of upkeep make me wonder… more

Plusses: Staff was nice enough. Great water pressure in the shower. Breakfast passable. Nice restaurant/bar on premises. GREAT location if going to a Pirates or Steelers game as it's an easy walk. Minuses: The rooms are roomy & decent enough but the 1980s bathrooms and lack of upkeep make me wonder if this building is slated for the wrecking ball. There's new construction (Condos) going up right next door. Expect to hear night racing noises from the street throughout the night. The ice machines on the 5th floor up have all been removed (top floor is 10). On our floor (7th), there was a nasty sewer pipe leak with a wheeled garbage can to collect the drippings. I reported it within an hour of check-in to the front desk folks. The smell was unpleasant and it wasn't until the day we were checking out they had emptied it. Why not just fix the pipe instead? We shouldn't have to go to a different floor to get ice. I waited 15+ minutes to get a customer service agent at (800)627-7468 - it took another 5 minutes waiting for a Authentication Email while he was on the phone - I explained my concern only to be hung up on (IF the call dropped you would have called me back)
