Fairfield Inn By Marriott Scranton

“A pleasant inn, a good value, next to a freeway”

Everything is fine with this Fairfield Inn. Prospective guests should be aware that you can hear the adjacent freeway from within the rooms. A spacious gym is a bonus though it could use - and has space for - a second bench.

This experience was a 2 1/2 then a 3. This property is in poor repair. We turned in a list of broken items in our room when we left. We heard two different customers complaining at the front desk about problems with their rooms. On top of that the public areas are cramped and beat up. The elevator labored between floors and we worried it might break down. The staff seemed friendly and competent but I believe the problem is that the owners aren't spending a dime on this place. The room itself was clean but bare bones and small when compared to most Fairfield Inns we have stayed in and we stay at alot. At least there was a shower and not a tub. The breakfast was typical. The only thing that saved this from being a two or lower was that it was relatively cheap.

Price was reasonable but accommodations were lacking. No business center. Was told there was one at the Residence Inn next door (affiliated with Marriot). Despite no walkway to get there, I walked around, stopped in and was told they removed it last year. Elevator area is narrow, as evidenced by wall scrapings trying to navigate luggage carts. Microwave in room was disconnected. Breakfast area was cramped, and offerings were less than some Fairfield Inns. Rooms are somewhat noisy, likely due to wood construction. Highway noise was evident. Staff was courteous and professional. When asked about nearby restaurants, was told to go left, then right and there are a bunch of them. Just does not feel welcoming.

Alicia made us feel right at home, but it was a little downhill from there. First, the television only had 3 stations that worked. In the morning, none of the stations worked. Alicia made us feel right at home, but it was a little downhill from there. First, the television only had 3 stations that worked. In the morning, none of the stations worked. So no t.v. kind of an inconvenience. Then, at breakfast, they couldn't keep it stocked. My wife was holding two napkins and had to supply another guest with one of hers. If you think breakfast is until 9 as advertised, forget about it. Go before 8. Don't count on toast, no bread. Britt is no Alicia, so don't count on much. So, 3 stars because of the warm greeting. Otherwise, 1.
