Camelot By The Sea: AirBNB: unit 1209 Perks: ✅Beautiful ocean view ✅Early check in only $50 more for a 2 hour advance. ✅Easily accessible to pier and ocean blvd amenities. ✅Responsive hosts despite not being terribly helpful. ✅Plenty of pool deck chairs including ones that face the water. Negatives: ❌Although responsive, the hosts know very little about the layout/physical amenities of the property itself. I had questions about the location of the gym (although I called it a weight room which was apparently terribly confusing) and how to access it and after over an hour she told me to ask the resort staff. ❌Was told to have a 5 star stay: there was copious amounts of dust under furniture, scuffs and scratches to all walls, dirty stained quarter round throughout, backsplash that’s peeling and is nearly transparent (instead of diamond plated like it used to be. Picture. Rotted/water damaged particle board doors, cabinet tops etc. ❌late check out $60 for an hour and $100 for two hours extra. ❌The beds are hard and loud..and I love a good firm mattress. ❌If there would have been four of us staying here (2bd condo) we would not have had enough seating for everyone in the “living” room. ❌No paper towels were provided as mentioned would be. Very little provided toiletries (like enough for maybe one person) ❌Light bulb out in a lamp. Could I have asked for a new one? Yes. Did I want to interact with the host anymore than necessary? No. ❌The lazy river and kids pool are completely covered and tiny. We joked and called it a lazy loop. ❌Very little cell service in living room. Things that were not their fault: ➖Beach beautification project was loud with end loaders moving sand at all hours of the day including on weekends. Thanks to those men and women working to make the beach gorgeous, but yall should take the weekend off ;) *however I do believe this should have been communicated with the guests. The beach had loud construction equipment and was closed off directly in front of the condo all but one day of our stay. ➖An enormous amount of unaccompanied minors. As a first responder I’d be less than surprised if a teen takeover occurred here. I would not feel safe having my kiddo outside on the blvd after dark. ✅The Camelot front desk women were kind and so welcoming. I almost wish I’d just booked directly through them simply for their customer service. Overall: This is a 2 or 2.5 star stay, nothing more. We travel frequently and truly don’t expect 5⭐️ without the price tag. The weather was beautiful so we stayed out of the room for the most part..and that made it fine but this not somewhere I’d want to stay long term or even be cooped up in for several hours. If you need a bed (go ahead and book your chiropractor), a bathroom (with excellent hot water!), and a small kitchen and you’re not picky…this will do. Closing thought: please don’t charge me a cleaning fee or make me wait until 1600 to check in if this isn’t clean anyway 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I have higher expectations in my own home and no guests are staying there or paying me to stay there daily. *After discharge messages: This morning I received a message through the Airbnb app from Julie asking me to rate my stay. Not only does this ask for an honest review, but it asks for a five star review multiple times. In addition to asking for a five star review, this host gives a 1-5 star scale that they have deemed appropriate measurements (see picture). The hosts representation of a five star stay is most people’s 2 to 3 star stay expectations.. The absolute icing on the cake for this review was when the host “reminded” the guest that for every 5star review they received they’d donate a meal to “Feeding America.” The lack of professionalism, the bribery with charity, and the lack of decency in this ask is beyond my comprehension, truly.
