“Beautiful location but limited food”

Location was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable. Limited food options so we drove 15 minutes to spearfish or Sturgis. There's a casino but slots were super tight. The pool and hot tub were great.

My kids loved the pool, which has no deep end. A++ pool! Location was beautiful. The room was very nice and spacious. AC was awesome and beds were comfortable! However….The room wasn’t cleaned properly. What looked like feces was on the wall beneath the toilet roll holder, and the shower curtain was smudged up with what I hope was dirt. We didn’t make any complaints about it. Finally, on the morning we left, the dark haired front desk rep was a bit…much. Not sure what’s going on in her life that she is so disagreeable. When alerted that the coffee creamer at the coffee station was out, she was surprisingly put out at the idea of dealing with it. She didn’t look at me when I talked to her, only muttered some burdensome comments at her coworker and trudged off. Uh, ok then. For $300+ per night with no included breakfast, doesn’t seem so outrageous to ask for creamer with the coffee. Shrug.

“Decent and clean hotel, but overpriced”

Hotel and room were decent and clean. Decor is mountain lodge - wood, stone, dark colors. As a result, room felt a bit cave-like. Hotel and room were decent and clean. Decor is mountain lodge - wood, stone, dark colors. As a result, room felt a bit cave-like. We paid extra for a room with a deck and first thing we noticed was a missing chair (easily rectified when we asked the front desk for a second chair) and we also noticed several dog kibble pieces on the deck. Obviously, there had been a dog staying in our room sometime before our stay. Ughhh…. nothing against dogs, but I usually do request pet-free rooms and may have neglected to do so for this hotel. Our tub drain was clogged as we found out when taking showers and standing in ankle deep water (did let front desk know upon checking out). I don’t understand why hotels don’t check their drains on a scheduled basis, as I’m sure it’s a common occurrence. Rooms are not very soundproof (but then most hotel rooms aren’t)…..but, with a casino and bar on site, there’s more noise in the hallways at night. Our first night, we experienced two drunk groups who met in the hallway at 2am, laughing talking comparing their bar and casino experiences (for at least 10-15 mins!) - we could hear their entire conversation. Regarding billing, beware that a credit card processing fee is charged for EACH NIGHT of stay. In our case $10 per night = $20 total for a 2-night stay. First time I’ve seen I’ve a hotel charge a credit card processing fee and reallllly????? This place is not inexpensive to start with and it just seems downright tacky. On a positive note, the hotel does have nice seating areas scattered throughout the main areas and outside which was nice to enjoy. It was also very convenient to have the restaurant on site and they had good food. Casino was also fun and very clean. But, overall, we feel this hotel is very overpriced as compared to others in the area for what you get.
