Glenstone Lodge was the best overall experience we have ever had staying somewhere! We came up for a quick trip with our granddaughters before they head to college. I had called a motel we have stayed at in the past. They said they had availability and could get us in last minute. We got to the motel and it was horrible! New owners have taken over. The room was nasty, I immediately went back and told them. They showed me 4 rooms they were all disgusting. After a lot of talking I was able to get a refund. Trying to find something on a Saturday afternoon had my head spinning! It was a busy weekend and things were booked completely. I looked at the reviews on Glenstone Losge and they were good! I called the hotel directly since we were in town. They had rooms available, so we went over and as soon as I walked in I felt better. It smelled wonderful and was clean and well cared for. I spoke with John on the phone and that is who I saw when I went to check in. When he heard of the awful experience I had just had he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. He made my experience so much more enjoyable because making sure we were happy and comfortable was his top priority. Our room was perfect! I don’t think I can give this place high enough praises! We have already said this will be where we stay from now on when we plan a trip to Gatlinburg.

“Great, affordable place to stay”

Nice place--not luxurious, but that's not what we were looking for. Loved the indoor pool--the waterfall was a nice touch. Beds were comfy (and firm, just like I like them) and the staff was very friendly. Good location, just up the hill from Bubba Gump. Would stay again.

I'd give this hotel 3.5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed my stay, and I would consider staying here again, but future guests should know what to expect. The location is excellent, the pool is fun, the stream creates a relaxing atmosphere, and I enjoyed the bear activities. I also had a nice side view of the pool and stream. The room was a little small, but it was comfortable. My biggest concern was not the hotel itself, but the lack of consistent rule enforcement. The front desk mentioned that law enforcement is frequently called because of guest disturbances. During my stay, guests were smoking, drinking, and partying loudly until after 1:00 a.m. Staff appeared to try to address it, but the noise continued. Around 3:00 a.m., police knocked on my door because they believed my room was causing the disturbance. The noise was actually coming from several doors away. The hotel also has no access control, so anyone can walk into the property at any hour. Combined with limited enforcement, it creates an environment where some guests seem comfortable ignoring rules, and that affects other guests. A smaller example was the outdoor seating. My room came with one chair, but guests repeatedly took the chair from my room. Each morning I had to find it and bring it back. If you're looking for a peaceful mountain getaway, this may not always be the best choice. The hotel seems to attract both families and guests looking for a livelier vacation. Smoking outside guest rooms was also common, making it difficult to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Overall, I still enjoyed my vacation and have already recommended the hotel to a family. Just understand that your experience may depend more on the guests staying around you than on the hotel itself.

Pros about our trip: pool area was awesome. Bear sightings were pretty cool. Cons: the ac in my dad's room didn't work the entire trip, was told by maintenance it was working fine. The room stayed 78 degrees the entire weekend. We had to help accommodate his sleeping arrangement so he could get some sleep without being drenched in sweat. Wish this would have been handled differently.
