“Phenomenal experience”

We arrived in Nashville after driving for 12 hours on a road trip across America. We were totally exhausted and I made a mistake using Expedia to book a night at Home2Suite on West End (will touch on this more later). See, the Expedia app had this default check-in date, which I failed to check and booked a wrong night that’s 2 weeks out. Immediately called Expedia and waited on the call for 15 minutes while we waited right outside of the hotel! So I switched to their virtual chat and got an immediate answer that I have to pay a penalty of $180 plus the hotel rate. At this point, I just accepted the fate and went into the hotel to book a night directly at the front desk. Tavia, the staff at the front desk, immediately tuned into the situation, found a room that worked for our family while during the busiest weekend full of events and got us a discount even!! She was a total life saver and turned my evening of nightmare to a warm welcoming experience which I’d cherish forever. I met Christy, the general manager, to share my wonderful experience. She’s super friendly and I can tell she cares a lot about creating a wonderful environment for everyone. Now, why would I say booking through Expedia was a big mistake? Here’s what happened. Expedia got back to me and said in order to cancel without penalty, they’ll reach out to the hotel for approval. The next morning, I got an automated text from Expedia telling me the hotel stood firm and declined the request WHILE Christy emailed me directly to tell me she’s logging into Expedia to approve it. Here’s my beef with Expedia (and will never use it again). All they care about is their bottom line and to bypass human interactions with automations that know NOTHING about what it’s like to be human. The algorithm simply picks the easy route and shut me down, which would’ve left a bad taste in my mouth about the hotel. What Expedia bot did not only sabotage their app, but also dragged down another wonderful hotel with caring staff! Book nights directly with the hotels! Support them instead of these “middle men” apps that don’t care about the customers or the hotels.

Iced out of our Nashville home, we took refuge in the Hilton 2 on West End. In this time of high stress and booked hotels we found a safe, warm, welcoming place. The hotel staff( while facing their own trails of no electricity, broken pipes, travel difficulties) met us with smiles, understanding and patience. Diane and Christie at the front desk were heroic. Sales manager, Will, was everywhere, from troubleshooting to cleaning up spills…to pitching in to help foodservice…amazing! We saw a hotel, in difficult times, pull together with a focus on comforting their guest. From house keeping to culinary and all in between, Thank you Home 2.

I stayed at this property during a visit to Nashville. Best move I made. The staff are excellent at what they do. Chrissy the manger walks in with a smile on her face every day. Her personality and concern for the guest really transcends to the members of her team as well as the guests. My room was immaculate. The shower had hot water with a nice shower head. The bed, linen, and set up was great. If you need a full size fridge, microwave, plates, bowls, cups and silverware, this is your spot. There is even pod coffee/tea maker in the room. Pool and gym are on the top level. I lucked out and had my breakfast included. Nice selection of food. I get a kick out of making waffles. So tasty.
