We needed accommodations that were close to Houston Hobby Airport and this location is very convenient to it. Check in was quick. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom included a large, walk-in shower & lighted mirror. The shower pressure was not great, but the water did get hot pretty quickly. My room was on the end farthest from the interstate and was very quiet. My coworkers room was close to the interstate and said that they could hear the traffic during the night. The breakfast had a variety of items, including eggs, sausage, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, and yogurt. It felt safe coming and going during the day, but I would be cautious at night. Even the hotel lobby locks its front door from midnight to 5am.

My main recommendation is to note that you need to call the hotel when you are at the airport pickup location to let them know you are there. The shuttle does not circle regularly as the website implies. The hotel has been renovated and there was clearly an effort made to freshen up everything, but some details just look covered over. The lighting in the room is dim and although clearly renovated, the whole bathroom counter was tilting down and sealants were all cracked. Our first floor room was noisy from the freeway. At breakfast, the coffee carafes were all empty and I had to search for the breakfast attendant to ask for more coffee. All in all, it is a bargain price and is satisfactory for this class of hotel but we have stayed at better quality HIE properties.

On the surface, the hotel is and looks new, but once inside the poor management and maintenance tell a different story. It started with being assigned to a room that was still occupied, which was extremely frustrating since only one elevator was working in a fairly new hotel and the property was full so it took at least 10-15 minutes before the elevator came to take us back down to the front desk. Even after we were given another room, it was hard to tell when we initially entered if it, too, was occupied since the bed was poorly made. As a result, the first thing we did was pull the bedspread back to make sure the sheets were clean and fresh, which they were. Unfortunately, the sofa in the room, as well as the carpeting, were already badly stained and the foot prop in the shower was hanging off the wall by a thin thread of caulking and looked as though it would definitely fall if you put any pressure on it. Without better upkeep, this hotel will be in shambles in a couple years. When we got up the next morning, both elevators were out of service, resulting in us having to lug two heavy suitcases down 4 floors of steps. Then, when we reached the desk to check out there was no one there and the person on duty had put up a sign that he/she would be back shortly, but we waited 10-15 minutes and no one ever showed, so we just left. After waiting until 3PM for an email with the stay folio, I finally called to get a copy of the final bill, but that even took 3 tries because I didn't get an answer on the first 2 calls. Although our stay wasn't terrible, I don't know that I'd stay here again or recommend to friends/colleagues. I should have known that after opening the door to an occupied room after we checked in that it would only go downhill from there.

This hotel is somewhat further from Hobby airport than other "airport area" hotels, which would not necessarily be a problem so long as it offered dependable shuttle service during peak hours. Unfortunately, my flight left at 6AM, like the other 20-25 flights that also depart Hobby on or before 6AM. Since the hotel's first shuttle leaves at 6AM, if you have an early morning flight, selection of another hotel with earlier shuttle service is recommended. Notwithstanding this issue, the hotel was otherwise acceptable. Check-in and check-out was uneventful, and the staff was professional. My room on the 4th floor was large, with a good wi-fi connection and a comfortable bed. The room was equipped with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The HVAC window/wall unit was somewhat loud, so this might be a problem for light sleepers. The window shade was broken and would neither open or close completely. The gym is really basic with treadmills and a couple of stationary bikes with dumbbells, but the equipment was well maintained. I left the hotel before breakfast was served.
