At first we were dismayed that this hotel was right on the main road, but what we learned about Vernal is that EVERYTHING is right on the main road. This hotel was very clean, the staff was excellent, our room was quiet and comfortable. We had a small dog with us and they were very kind to her. We did have to put a couple of pillows at the gap beneath the door at night so our dog didn't think we were under attack by people walking by. Everything in the room was laid out nicely, there was a refrigerator for our dinner leftovers, the bathroom was a nice size and very clean. Excellent water pressure. A quiet sleep.

“Good Stay despite Renovations”

As others have mentioned, the hotel is undergoing renovations and things look a bit sloppy outside with equipment and litter. As others have mentioned, the hotel is undergoing renovations and things look a bit sloppy outside with equipment and litter. Inside the second floor is being worked on, third floor complete - so request a third floor room as they are very nice and new. Also request a room on backside of hotel as the busy highway is quite noisy throughout the night. They have noise machines in the rooms facing the highway so it is obviously a concern. The usual breakfast although we ate next to stacks of drywall. Would stay here again and most likely give it five stars after renovation is complete.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express when in Vernal and northeastern Utah. This is one of just three or four chain hotels in Vernal. So you don't have a lot of options. I received a newly renovated 2-queen room on the third floor. Two entire floors are under renovation at the moment. The entire hotel is really an active construction site with workers renovating rooms and other spaces from 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday. I was very unhappy with the construction as it wasn't disclosed. I wouldn't have stayed here had I known there was construction. The hotel should really be closed to guests. Staff were polite. But IHG elite status recognition was limited. No upgrade even though better rooms were available. No offer of late check-out and not even a complimentary bottle of water. The breakfast, like all Holiday Inn Express properties is free for all guests. It was most of the usual selection. No omelets or egg whites. The only fruit or berries were some oranges. No bananas or apples. I didn't see any oatmeal. My room was renovated very nice. Except for a couple scuffs on the wall probably from construction, everything was perfect. I didn't see any damaged furniture or carpet. They did a nice job on the bathroom with a HUGE countertop at the sink vanity. I also like that they kept the bathtub as many newly built or newly renovated hotels feature walk-in showers. The room was well-appointed with a huge Philips TV with DirecTV service, a Keurig coffeemaker, microwave, and a medium-sized refrigerator. My only complaint is the lack of accessible electrical and USB outlets at the desk. I don't understand why a newly renovated room didn't have a half-dozen USB and electrical outlets at the desk. There were just two electrical outlets. The bed featured what I think is the new Holiday Inn Express linen. The duvet is a scratchy polyester waffled duffet that isn't as nice as the older iteration of bed linen. Housekeeping does a very good job. The room was very clean. The one area that was dirty was the window. When I opened the window to get some fresh air I saw dead bugs, dirt and dust. All things considered, I think this will be a nice Holiday Inn Express once construction is finished. But for the time being it is an active construction site that should be closed.
