The Westin Alexandria Old Town

Was in town with my family for a conference. Raul made sure we had the best stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was immaculate, and the accommodations were fantastic.

The Westin Alexandria Old Town was located in a quiet and clean neighborhood. There was a Panera around the corner from the hotel and CVS was in walking distance. The Westin Alexandria Old Town was located in a quiet and clean neighborhood. There was a Panera around the corner from the hotel and CVS was in walking distance. Genet was a waitress at our morning breakfast at the hotel restaurant, The Trademark. She was amazing and gave us wonderful recommendations of where to visit during our stay including walking directions. If you like to walk, King Street was a nice walk for us and we walked to the river for lunch. King Street has many restaurants, bars and shops along the way.

We stayed here a night while visiting bars and restaurants with family in the area. Checking in was quick, easy, and professional. They have valet here and the valet folks were really busy, but accommodating when we needed to quickly drop off our vehicle. The guy checking me in upgraded me to a suite, which was a nice surprise. The common areas in this hotel were beautiful and kept up nicely. When we got to the room it was nicely set up and quite large. The bathroom wasn’t very impressive though, it featured a tub with shower curtain – many nicer properties have been updated to remove the tubs and replace them with shower systems. The other issue with this tub was that it didn’t drain well, which wasn’t fun when taking a shower. The TV in the room was kind of small for how big the room was and how far away the TV was from the bed. Also, the TV had streaming services, but no Pluto. I’ve been loving having Pluto on Marriott TVs lately. The bed was comfy and the HVAC worked well and wasn’t too loud. Overall, it was a nice stay, even though we literally got there around 5PM and put our bags in the room and left, staying out past midnight before returning, then waking up, showering, and heading out around 9AM. So, we weren’t there nor in the room very long, but it was perfect for our needs. I’d stay here again.

A hotel rating is more than just the facility. Other factors include the amenities, location, & the service that’s provided. Westin Old Town is a very nice facility … beautiful & spacious entrance with nice & clean rooms. Great location as well. I’ll give it 5-Stars! What I didn’t like was the service. I was driving an oversized vehicle & was given a permit & directions where to park. I saw another vehicle parked alongside the hotel. So, I asked the clerk about other parking options. She proceeded to ask for assistance. A gentleman walked out from another room (maybe the manager) & said in a snide kind of way, “Didn’t so & so give you a piece of paper directing you where to park?” Yes. He then proceeds to walk back to his cave. So, I drove a mile or two away to their designated parking. I ATTEMPTED to Uber back to the hotel but was unable to because the Uber app didn’t allow me to “pinpoint” my location because I was on private property. The Uber app tried to “pinpoint” me to a location 1/8 to a 1/4 mile or so away from where I was parked. So, I called the hotel & asked them how I was suppose to get back. “Oh, we’ll send our shuttle to pick you up.” NOT ONE PERSON MENTIONED TO ME THAT THE HOTEL HAD A DEDICATED SHUTTLE SERVICE … not the clerk & not even the manager when I asked about where to park. I’m thinking to myself … how difficult is it to say, “We can’t accommodate your vehicle. So, we’re going to send you a mile or two away to park. And as a courtesy, WE’LL PICK YOU UP & BRING YOU BACK.” I think it’s pertinent information. But I guess they didn’t think so. BTW, the shuttle driver was super nice. Would I return? Absolutely. Do I recommend? Absolutely. Just work on your customer service.
