Check in to The Delta Bristol was quick and easy, and the front desk staff was friendly. The lobby was huge, clean and had an upscale appearance. The walk to our room was easy, and the hallways smelled fresh. Upon entering our room it has no weird smells or anything. It smelled good. The furniture was in good condition and the mattress was very comfortable so we slept great! The bathroom was nearly spotless, with plenty of hot water and no mildew in the shower. I didn't notice any stray hairs or anything gross. And I really appreciated the two complimentary bottles of water and the strong WiFi connection. However, there’s no complimentary breakfast. There was no microwave in the room. We had leftovers from dinner and no way to reheat it. I asked the front desk where the microwave was and she immediately said she'd have one sent up to my room. It took around 30 minutes but it arrived. I had rearrange a few things to make it fit but it worked out fine and it was powerful. The toilet was uncomfortably low with a weak flush. I've never seen a toilet so low to the floor! It felt like I was using a toddler toilet. An old person would never be able to get up. The water pressure in the shower was terrible! It took twice as long to rinse shampoo and conditioner out of your hair. The shower head itself was wonderful. It had a rain effect but it was just so weak! The towels made us laugh. We had two big towels, two small towels, two wash clothes and a floor towel. Months before when I made my reservation, I had requested extra towels and housekeeping services and got neither. The AC barely cooled the room, and the thermostat on the wall wasn't functional. It must've been for looks only. I'm glad it wasn't super hot outside. Otherwise we would've been hot. When we arrived the TV displayed another persons name which didn't make me feel like a very warm welcome. The TV guide never updated the entire time we were there so watching TV was interesting. We had no idea what was on. The outlets and USB plugs in the lamps took some finagling to work. The on site restaurant/bar had very overpriced beer and food, so we opted to eat down the street. Overall, we'd definitely stay again if we were in the area. Even with the few bad things, we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel upon entry seemed really nice. I was told at check in that breakfast was an additional fee when online it showed included. I thought I made a mistake but upon review booking.com showed that. I being a bonvoy member decided to check pricing with my membership and found it $6 less so booked through Marriott to earn points. I called them to clarify and was told that was correct. They had no desire to help me understand why using their loyalty program didn’t afford me the same benefit as a third party vendor. Of course, this is not the hotel’s fault but more of a reflection on the company. Everything was clean and appealing in the lobby but Floor 4 smells musty and our room smelled like infant formula with iron, very weird. I found evidence of not being properly cleaned, stuff in floors not vacuumed or swept up. The beds were clean and comfortable. Next, shower time. I washed my hair only to find the conditioner was completely empty. I had to get out and get my conditioner. Moving on to the showering and find the body wash was completely empty. Again,had to get out to get my soap. This is unacceptable and proof the room wasn’t properly cleaned. Upset now, I called the front desk about the breakfast and the loyalty program and the no breakfast situation. They gave me tickets for the breakfast. I must say the young lady at breakfast was a delight and the most positive part of the experience. This was the 17th night of hotel stays on my retirement roadtrip and the only time I encountered issues. I stayed mostly at Hilton or Marriott brands. To me a loyalty member should get any perk that a third party vendor offers, shame on Marriott! It confirmed to me to always check for lowest pricing and compare to the loyalty program pricing. Using their loyalty program isn’t always your best deal!

“Too Hard Bed; Pet Friendly; Clean Room”

Unfortunately the king bed was unbearably hard. I could not get a comfortable rest. My husband fell asleep easily but complained of an aching hip the next day. As Seniors, this is a major consideration. Pet-friendly with a $75 fee and part of the Marriott group - big pluses for us. Easy access from highway. The walk-up exterior is lovely. The lobby had several beautiful sitting areas. There was a welcoming and efficient lady at the check-in desk despite our 1 am arrival. Our room was clean with a comfortable sofa, mini-fridge and kcup machine; ice machine on alternate floor. Expensive charge for breakfast $16 each which we didn't partake of.
