The Courtyard Marriott Beckley,WV was not the best hotel. It is conveniently located and easy to park. The front desk staff were friendly and made good eye contact. The hotel is under construction in various areas. I was in the 4th floor, double queen room which is newly renovated. The bathroom is small. The mirror over the bathroom sink is poorly lit- making it hard to see for applying makeup. The walls around the sink and mirror are a very dark color making the lighting worse. There is 1 other mirror on the inside of the narrow closet door. Bed was comfy and room was clean. The food options in the hotel are limited.

“Book elsewhere”

Hotel is under construction. You have to pick your suitcases up over the curb because the main entrance is closed. Rooms were DATED! Walking outside today the furniture cemented my review. This is absolutely disgusting. NOT WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY. I probably would have enjoyed sharing a bathroom… more

Hotel is under construction. You have to pick your suitcases up over the curb because the main entrance is closed. Rooms were DATED! Walking outside today the furniture cemented my review. This is absolutely disgusting. NOT WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY. I probably would have enjoyed sharing a bathroom with people at the other Marriott in Beckley instead of having a crappy room and a private bathroom at this one. It is probably nicer.

We needed a place to stay for one night while making our way back from Hilton Head, and since we needed a suite with two separate sleeping areas, options in Beckley were limited. When I saw a Courtyard by Marriott available, I was optimistic—I've had consistently good experiences with Courtyards in the past and usually find them clean, modern, and reliable. Unfortunately, this location did not live up to that standard. First impressions were rough: the entire hotel is undergoing construction, and the exterior looked so run-down that my husband actually asked if it was even open. I had known there was some renovation happening, but I wasn’t prepared for how extensive (and uninviting) it would be. The main lobby, however, was nicely updated and did feel more like the Courtyard brand I’m familiar with—modern, clean, and welcoming. But as soon as you leave the lobby, it’s a different story. The hallways and rooms are clearly dated and in need of attention. Wallpaper was peeling by the elevators and inside our room as well, where there were visible rips and general wear. The bathroom was especially disappointing—old fixtures, missing or discolored caulk, and what looked like wallpaper in the shower area made it feel far from clean. I honestly didn’t feel comfortable showering there. The toilet was small and outdated, and overall, the room felt dark and uninviting. The suite itself was spacious, which we appreciated—it gave us plenty of room to spread out. But the layout could’ve been improved by including a designated dining area. As it was, we ended up eating around a rolling desk. The pool was a nice perk, though it was a bit cold and there was no hot tub. On the plus side, it was a quiet and mostly comfortable place to sleep for the night, and I had no issues using mobile check-in or the digital key through the Marriott app, which made arrival easy and contactless. That said, I was ready to leave after just one night. If I had known how dated the hotel was beyond the lobby, I might have opted for the Best Western Suites across the street. I understand Beckley is a smaller, rural area and expectations should be adjusted accordingly, but for the price and the Marriott name, I had hoped for more—especially after coming from a beautiful, well-kept Marriott in Hilton Head. The contrast was jarring.
