Did not have reservation but went to check in at desk to see what might be available and was told they were full but the clerk was very helpful and after going to the back room a couple of times, came back with a condo rental at Tree Top. Shouldn't complain after that but!!! Arrived and found it very cold inside, a lot of different kinds of heaters installed but only a few worked. Thanks to the gas fireplace we stayed kinda warm. The place was well appointed with kitchen tools and bathrooms had plenty of towels. Wall paneling was dated and worn but décor was ok. On entering you go thru the mud room which had a lot of standing water due to a leak in the washing machine. Upstairs was for master bedroom and a second bedroom with bunks. Only one small bathroom up and was very dated. Living room was down with 3/4 bath. Would stay again in a pinch but would not stay if I was trying to get advanced reservation and that was the only thing available. It did have free internet and land line phone with free long distance. It was close to the only grocery store and close enough to the village. Wife and I did enjoy our 4 day stay in Snowshoe village. I told the check out clerk about the condo problems but she didn't seem too concerned but she was very nice.

We were supposed to be able to check in at 5pm. We were told 3 times that housekeeping would only be 30 minutes more. We were supposed to be able to check in at 5pm. We were told 3 times that housekeeping would only be 30 minutes more. At 7:47, I went back to the desk to check, and requested that I not be told it would only be 30 minutes more. The desk attendant told us that she would personally come and get us in the bar when it was ready. We finished watching a bowl game that was interesting to us, and at 8:34 went back to the front desk. We were told that it was just now ready and we could check in. No attempt was made to come and get us. We may have arrived at the front desk before that attempt was made, but given the previous treatment, I doubt an attempt was made. I heard numerous stories from resort employees over our time there that they have great difficulty finding employees. We were also told that this time of year, the week between Christmas and New Years, is their busiest time. If this is all true, it only adds up to disgruntled customers, with us being one of several we spoke to. The condo was average in decor and functional, except for one of the room heaters failing on our final night(12-15 degree low was expected). It's location is not on slopes as is the village, and we did know this. It is convenient to the shuttle which does run often. If this will be your destination, bring enough food to cook your meals in the condo. Access to groceries is very limited, and restaurants have such long wait times(1-2 hours) that you will wish you brought your own meals.
