We've gone a few times over the years and feel the overall maintenance has gone down. The pool area as previously noted by another review was not very clean. The Sauna was down for three of the 4 days we were there and I had to report it twice. The parking lot could use a little more care to hand shovel to remove the ice/snow patches when the cars are gone, it would not take much time to make it safer by shoveling the lot to remove the ice/snow chunks. On the positive side- the location is really amazing and is dog friendly. They did have a really great bonfire area i could see people were using even in the winter. Rooms are dated, but were clean, and the beds were very comfy. It's nice to have a balcony to sit out in good weather or to store your ice/cooler in the winter. Overall, you are paying premium price for the location and the ability to have pets, so you have to determine what you are willing to sacrifice.

Just finished three nights at the Baker's Sunset Bay Resort. Overall we felt that this 'Resort' met the literal definition of the word, but could use some improvements and there are things to know before you stay. On the positive side, it's a resort on the Lake Delton side of the Dells and not far from the strip, only a couple of minute drive to the strip and a couple of more minutes to downtown. There is ample and free parking, and we always felt safe. It's one of the few hotels with it's own beach, indoor and outdoor pools, outdoor games and playground, hot tub, free kayak use, and free pool towels. We stayed in a Double Queen Mini Suite. It had a full size fridge, microwave, electric stove, real utensils, pots and dishes plus a private balcony and views of the lake. The resort is mostly quiet, though you'll find kids running the hall and doors slamming and often noises of people playing outside, common with most Dell's hotels. So, if you're looking for absolute peace and quiet, you may need a different hotel or room location. On the negative side, we found the room to be fairly beat up. There's a way too small tv for the room, though it did have a multitude of channels. There's a small table and chairs but much of the table is filled with the microwave. The beds were used hard and we felt a spring poking in one of the mattresses. They only do housekeeping every third day and if you want fresh towels you need to go to the front desk and exchange. It's 10am checkout and we asked for 11am and they said no. From a cleanliness standard, it fell well below our expectations. The main pool desperately needed someone to clean it as there was sand and dirt, and crud at the bottom. A kid running around that pool kept yelling that there was a turd in the bottom. I don't think so, but I wasn't going to touch it and find out. The nearby trees drop a lot of tree debris in and I for one wasn't getting in the pool. The nearby pool chairs are also worn hard. A permanent shade of black and very uncomfortable to try and lay in. The kayaks are the same story, very worn and dirty and honestly we didn't want to touch those either. The worst was the hot tub. It was off when no one was using it and there was this layer of brown water on the top, very gross. We didn't touch that either. We paid over $600 for the three nights and honestly it seemed overly expensive for what we got. After checkout I never received a printed or emailed copy of my folio. Would we stay there again? um, maybe, but it would not be our first choice.
