Great property and great location. Rooms are nice and comfortable, but they don't have dressers, drawers, or other places to put belongings. No exhaust fan in bathroom so it gets steamy. The rooms didn't have AC, which we knew about going in, but on days when the temp got into the low 80s, the rooms warmed up enough that sleeping was uncomfortable. The rooms come with a small oscillating fan, but that doesn't help much. Wi-Fi works very well at this property, and there is good phone reception around Old Faithful area. Property is beautiful, well-designed, and well-constructed. Staff was very helpful in everything we needed. Restaurant on site is very good, although there is no quick coffee/breakfast option anywhere in hotel. Room advertises coffee maker, but it is a hot water heater with packets of tea and coffee that have to steep. Our rooms had only decaf coffee, which defeats the purpose.

We stayed at Old Faithful Snow Lodge during our Yellowstone trip and came away with mixed feelings. The location is outstanding. Being able to walk to Old Faithful and explore the Upper Geyser Basin early in the morning and late in the evening, before the crowds arrive, is an experience that is hard to beat. The rooms themselves were clean and the staff we interacted with were friendly. Unfortunately, the food was by far the weakest part of our stay. The cafeteria at the Old Faithful Inn was so poor that we found it essentially inedible. If you’re staying in this area, skip the cafeteria and instead buy prepared meals from the Yellowstone General Store. They were consistently a much better option. The Obsidian Dining Room was noticeably better. The Yellowstone Skillet breakfast was actually quite good, but the breakfast buffet was disappointing and not something we would order again. We also experienced several operational issues during our stay. The lodge lost power for several hours, a fire alarm required an evacuation while we were in our room, and one of the elevators was out of service. Any one of those can happen, but having all of them occur during a short stay made the experience feel less well managed. Our biggest complaint about the rooms was ventilation. Even though outside temperatures were in the 40s, the windows only open a couple of inches. As a result, the room became warm and stuffy, and there was no practical way to get fresh mountain air inside. It seems like a missed opportunity in a location with such a cool climate. Overall, we would stay here again because the location is simply unmatched, but the lodge could significantly improve the guest experience by upgrading the food quality and providing better room ventilation.
