We just spent five nights at Barrier Beach Resort on Espiritu Santo and honestly… it was exactly what we needed. It’s a small, adults-only resort, which makes it feel really personal and relaxed. Only a short flight from Brisbane, but it feels a world away. The new Aussie managers, Shannon and Sean, were absolutely lovely — nothing was ever too much trouble. We were those guests (forgot things, needed help, I fell out of a tree… long story 😂), and they handled everything with kindness and humour. Catherine was also amazing, helping us organise a beautiful private tour with John and even problem-solving when we realised we couldn’t access cash. They went as far as arranging a phone charger from town and loaning us one in the meantime — just genuinely good people. Also… special mention to Millie the chihuahua, who got daily visits from me for pats 🥰 The location is stunning. The beach is right there — literally steps from our villa — with crystal clear, warm turquoise water. We swam with dugongs (which apparently is quite rare!), fed fish, and wandered along soft sand dotted with hermit crabs. Plenty of shade, complimentary kayaks, SUP boards, and bikes to use, plus easy airport transfers. Our standalone villa was well set up with everything we needed, including air con, nice bathroom products, and little touches like sarongs to use. It’s worth noting some rooms are a bit more dated than others, but there are newer ones being added. The restaurant setting is beautiful — right by the water — The staff were genuinely sweet & efficient, and we never had a bad meal. The gnocchi, curries, spring rolls, sticky date pudding and strawberry ice cream were standouts. We also did a private tour with John to Champagne Beach, Port Olry (fish & chips for lunch), and Nanda Blue Hole — absolutely spectacular and well worth it (even if the water was freezing… I still jumped in three times). A couple of small things to be aware of: it’s not a cheap stay, and because it’s quite secluded, you’ll mostly be eating onsite. While we loved slowing down, if you’re someone who needs constant activity, you might find it a little quiet. That said, if your idea of a holiday is to switch off, swim, read, eat well and just be — this place is pretty special. We left relaxed, happy, and with zero bug bites (which honestly feels like a miracle in the tropics!). We’d absolutely come back 💛 ~One small thing — we had mentioned when booking that it was our 30th wedding anniversary, and while it didn’t take away from our stay at all, it would have been a lovely touch for it to be acknowledged in some small way. Having said that, we also didn’t mention it again while we were there, so perhaps that one’s partly on us.

“Stunning spot just outside of town!”

Absolutely stunning boutique resort full of amazing staff who go above and beyond! Beautiful beach with kayaks and paddle boards as well as snorkeling gear to make all water activities so much fun! As well as amazing cocktails!

“Beautiful stay in a beautiful location”

Had such a good stay at BBR!! Great location just 20 mins from town, close to blue holes and an hour from champagne beach (highly recommend hiring a car). Rooms were nice looking over a beautiful peaceful bay. Restaurant was great and ate there most nights with awesome steak and specials. Staff were incredibly attentive, friendly and helpful. New managers Sean and Janine were super welcoming and accomodating. Highly recommend and will stay again 😊

The staff are just amazing and really made us feel so welcome and always gave us a good laugh , nothing was ever too much trouble from booking drivers and experiences and recommendations. The rooms were roomy and had a fridge and tea /coffee making facilities and aircon. We had a garden fares with plunge pool and after a hot day was so refreshing sitting in the pool with a cold beer. Don’t start me on the restaurant, the food was five stars !! Every night there were specials to choose from as well as a huge variety on the regular menu. Breakfast which is encluded was extensive menu as well. Happy Hour drinks every afternoon from 4:30 where we were greeted by the lovely staff , Sophia is the best , can make a mean cocktail and is just a delight !!!This is resort is small and personal and we felt like the only people there some days we struggled to find any faults , only just walk slowly if the decks are wet they get a little slippery. It is about 15min drive to loganville to get snacks and supplies , driver was about 2000VAT each way. Do your self a favour and book a massage you will thank me later , I floated back to my room. You will not be disappointed staying at this resort and like us will be booking your return trip as soon as you get home
