We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lokuthula Lodge in Victoria Falls. Our two-bedroom chalet, complete with a kitchen, provided plenty of space and was well suited to a comfortable and relaxing stay. While the chalet itself was a little dark and somewhat dated, it was clean and serviced daily by friendly staff. One of our favourite aspects of the lodge was the beautiful bush setting. We spent many enjoyable hours on the patio watching the wildlife that wandered through the grounds, especially the warthogs, which became regular and entertaining visitors. The location was excellent, with the courtesy shuttle providing easy and convenient access to Victoria Falls town whenever we wanted to explore. A major advantage of staying at Lokuthula was having full access to the facilities and restaurants at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. We particularly enjoyed dining there and loved the lively Dinner and Drum Show at the Boma. Overall, Lokuthula Lodge offers a comfortable stay in a wonderful natural setting, with excellent amenities and easy access to the many attractions of Victoria Falls.

“A haven a peace, tucked away in the bush!”

I stayed in one of the self-catering lodges at Lokuthula and it was absolutely beautiful. The lodge is quirky in all the right ways: I loved the thatch and how cool the house was. Two of the bedrooms were up half a floor, then the third bedroom up half a floor again. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very well appointed and the shower was amazing! The kitchen had everything one needed. We loved the half-tent, half-house feel and the ability of opening up the whole front of the living room. The living space gives on to a watered lawn, and then bush and was often frequented by bushbuck, warthog, guinea fowl and banded mongoose. Another highlight is the access to the Victoria Falls Hotel which is also on site. It is a stunning thatched building on multiple levels whose veranda gives on to a 180 degree vista of the bush, with a watering hole in front of it. The sunset from there is spectacular. Our only negative point was the actual food in the restaurant which looked beautiful, but which we felt, lacked in flavour. It simply didn't live up to our expectations given how lovely everything else was - but that is perhaps a question of personal taste. The Boma drumming sessions looked, and sounded very cool but the rest of my family were not up for it so I can't vouch for it personally but it did come highly recommended! Lokuthula is also far enough out of town to be away from the helicopter noises, but close enough to nip to town. Would definitely recommend.

So ideally located just outside of Vic Falls but close enough to be in town in minutes. The cottages are well equipped with stove and oven, microwave and good size fridge. Bathrooms have recently be renovated and very spacious. The only downside was the constant closing of doors and screens because the monkeys are impossible! But very little can be done about it and it certainly wouldn’t deter me from recommending this place. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Especially the vulture feeding and sunset drinks on the hotel deck!
