Highly recommended for a quiet and elegant beach resort experience. Great for families with children, resort has nice beach areas and a pool. Restaurants and bar is also available. Cost is 25 per person local currency and includes use of facilities. Not recommended for people wishing loud music, drinking, partying as this caters to families. Tourists here are mostly Dutch.

My husband and I stayed in an ocean front belle alliance room in April 2024. The room had a great view of the ocean and lagoon and was far enough from the restaurants to be quiet. The Rooms Coming from US - being European electric outlet adapter for the bathroom. The bedside tables have US outlet and USB connections. The rooms do not have iron and ironing board - we called the front desk for this and had within 10 minutes. There is no top sheet on the bed. There are no washcloths in the bathroom. The room does have a safe, mini fridge, coffee maker, and bathrobes. The AC did struggle to keep our room cool - it was a constant 24-25* Celsius even when we cranked the AC. Bathroom was adequate with towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner and built in hair dryer. When the door was closed, it was really sound proof as well. The Budget rental car office onsite is very convenient and parking is free Proximity to about 7 or 8 restaurants very close by is fantastic. There is beach food and beverage service, but we brought a small cooler with some beers and ice a few days. Snorkeling in the two lagoon beaches is great - bring your mask!!. The lagoons are warmer than the pool, are mostly sandy, and have a nice variety of brightly colored fish, with calm waters and no seaweed. The hotel offers a standup paddle board for use. I was prepared for mosquitos (am a magnet for them) but didn’t get a single bite. The hotel sprays for them regularly. Had a spa treatment at Cloud Nine spa - the relaxation massage- Good experience - not a lot of frills but definitely a professional massage experience in a nice setting for a reasonable price. The hotel restaurants/bars Some reviews said the food was not great. We had all amazing food and drinks here. We did not opt in to the breakfast buffet but did have lunch at the Penn three times and the BBQ dinner on Saturday night. The portions are generous and the prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to other Caribbean destinations. We had the tuna poke bowl, fries, quesadillas (add chicken), and prosciutto pizza. We went off hotel property for coffee some mornings and for dinners. (BKLYN!!!!!!!!, MosaCaña, soi95, Dutch cafe, and BijBlauw. The walk to these places isn’t cute, but they are all great in themselves. Walking all the way to the port/downtown is good for touristy stuff but kind of lackluster. We went to the Renaissance casino one night and tried to get a cab home at 12am - no luck. We had to walk and it was about 20min. A local dog accompanied us halfway!!!!! Service everywhere in Curacao is slow. Be prepared. It’s usually on a level of “did they forget about me?” Nope, just that slow. And tipping is not expected so if you want to tip, the workers appreciate it and you might need to ask to add tip. 10-15% is what we did at most meals.

My husband and I just returned from our week long stay at Avila, and we were sad to leave. We normally stay at large, sprawling, all-inclusive resorts, so we were a bit apprehensive what this holiday would look like. I must say that despite not being a typical, all-inclusive resort, we were spoiled. The food was immaculate (we had breakfast, lunch, and dinners there). You won’t find high quality food like that at a typical all-inclusive and especially at those in Curacao (we’ve stayed at one that shall remain nameless). Not one staff member passed us by without greeting us. The beaches, although not sprawling like a large resort, were immaculate. The beach chairs and palapas were in abundance. We did not lack for anything. They even gifted my husband a bottle of wine for his birthday. Service goes a long way with us, and it’s because of that we will always stay at Avila when visiting Curacao. We stayed in the Octagon Standard Room and my only regret was not getting a bigger room. It got really cold quickly with the AC (there is no way for you to adjust the temperature yourself), and when we had the AC off, the room got stuffy really quickly. I think a bigger room would rectify that issue. I would like to highlight a waiter named Shamon at the Blues Restaurant. He was so attentive, always working hard to manage his guests, and charming that he made our dinner even more special. Thank you for your service to us that evening.

“nice low key hotel”

Sheldon the bartender is great! Blue wing rooms are wonderful. The two lagoons on the property was a nice shield from the ocean with plenty of tropical fish. Property is well kept and just beautiful. The property seemed to have an older crowd, so it was more relaxing than a party atmosphere.
