Had a fantastic week in Crete at the Mitsis Cretan Village. The reception staff were always helpful & Dimitris was a very happy man who took our cases to our room & recognised us on several occasions while he was on duty other days. Room was comfortable & clean. Plenty of choice for food in the main restaurant & a big shout out to the wonderful staff there. We had a lovely meal in la Pergola & the staff were all happy & helpful. We also ate at the beach restaurant Thalassa a few times & the food & staff were great. We spent time at the pool B & there were plenty of comfy sunbeds. The pool bar was well attended by staff but the pool was a little cold but ok once you were in. The girls that attended the Panorama bar in the evenings were brilliant, always rushed off their feet but never too busy to have a quick friendly chat. The entertainment was good & we watched the team in their first dance performance at the Amphitheater. We booked a jeep safari trip through Nikita the Concierge, she spent time making sure we got the trip we wanted & booked our meal at La Pergola. Make sure you do this at the beginning of your trip as it can get booked up. Would definitely recommend this hotel & would go back as we really enjoyed our stay.

I came to this hotel, as a solo traveller, and was really happy with my stay here. I booked 7 nights all inclusive. Check in- Was very quick and easy. I was given the room card straight away. You have to pay a tourist tax which was €49. I wasn’t expecting this but I guess was my fault for not researching. I wasn’t given any information about the hotel and when I enquired was told to scan a QR code. I much prefer being given a hotel map than using my phone. I had to find my own way around the hotel and figure things out on my own, such as bar opening times, restaurant opening times etc. Room- I stayed in room 1002. The room was clean and tidy. It had everything in there that I needed (hairdryer, towels). The safe was free of charge. The mini bar was stocked up with fizzy drinks, a bottle of wine and a beer (they also stocked this up every other day- although I did have to ask for it to be stocked up). The bed was comfortable, the pillows were fine. I had a (limited) sea view room but was really pleasant to sit out on the patio and relax. It was so noisy at night, you could hear the music at the main bar which was really annoying ( I had to have a few early nights as I had a couple of day trips). You could also hear your neighbours talking, as well as them flushing the toilet. Overall, the room was fine. Food (main restaurant/buffet)- For the most part, the food was pretty decent. It had your usual chips, pasta, meats, vegetables, cold meats, salad. On one night there was this beautiful pork and then something similar the next night and it was so salty. Another night there was beef and it was good. Chips reminded me of a “chippy”- loved them! The food was lukewarm and occasionally cold. Desserts were plentiful and nice. The view from the buffet was lovely of the sea. Drinks were self service and I loved the fact there’s fridges with bottled water! Food (A La Carte restaurants)- Being all inclusive, you got a visit to the a La carte restaurants. There is a seafood restaurant and a Greek taverna. The seafood restaurant (Beach Restaurant Thalassa) was my favourite. I had mussels (although a lot of the mussels were closed which was a shame) for starters, cuttlefish with wild greens for main, and chocolate ganache for dessert- all were cooked wonderfully and tasted lovely! The taverna (Taverna la Pergola) was okay. I had courgette fritters for starters (I really didn’t enjoy these, sea bass fillet (which was nice but REALLY lemony which was quite overpowering) and chocolate pie for dessert. Staff- The staff were lovely and so hardworking. Nothing seemed too much for them and they were genuinely interested in the happiness of the guests. Bartender Poppi was really nice at the poolside bar (Milos). Bars/pools- There’s 3 pools (that I’m aware of but I’m sure there could be a few more) and bars at them. I spent my time at the “middle” pool with Bar Milos. The pool bars had a more limited selection of drinks, compared to the main bar (Panorama) which opened later in the evening. Drinks were nice, and cocktails were made to order. I didn’t like that you had to say your room number after ordering (especially being a lone female traveller). There is also a pizza corner and a crepe station (which I frequented more times than I care to admit)! Location- The location is quite remote which is what I wanted, but i think for families it’s a little bit too far out. You can walk into the town of Hersonissos which would take around 30/40 minutes. There isn’t anything really close by, bar a spar and a bar at the top of the resort. The hotel is on the beach but you do have to walk down to it. After a few drinks that was quite fun! Would I stay here again? No, but only because I’m not the type of person to stay in the same hotel as I feel there’s so many resorts to go to! But I definitely will go to a Mitsis hotel again. Would I recommend this hotel? Absolutely yes!
