“Pleasant enough to stay again”

Lovely room on top floor clean and large enough, shower and toilet took a bit of getting used too wouldn’t want to be there with someone i didn’t know very well. Food for being al was about the best we had hot and varied selection. Pool area nice clean and pleasant, not sure what it is like when fully booked. Great location central to beach and the strip. Pleasant jolly friendly staff especially our lovely cleaner who are often overlooked. Would definitely stay again

“NO TWIN ROOMS !!!! Only a super king and single bed”

Just a quick heads up about the bed situation. All the rooms have a super king and a single. My mum booked a twin room (as offered on the web site) . However the receptionist denied that they have any. She said "all the rooms have 1 very big bed and one small bed. I'm here as I write this . No... more

Just a quick heads up about the bed situation. All the rooms have a super king and a single. My mum booked a twin room (as offered on the web site) . However the receptionist denied that they have any. She said "all the rooms have 1 very big bed and one small bed. I'm here as I write this . No other complaint. It's very clean. Staff very friendly. Food is lovely. Beer and wine on tap. Coffee available at the press of a button. Help yourself. Plus. Must be very familiar and comfortable with who you are sharing with. As a quick wash and freshen up, at the sink, is in the main room. Looks great. But not very practical.

TL/DR version: Good budget all inclusive hotel with a varied selection of food and drink but nothing too fancy, comfortable bed and clean room with a couple of very small complaints, good location. Full Review... My 17 year old niece and I stayed at the Exotica for a week from 18th October. We had never been to the island before and had originally booked at the Keri Village sister hotel but it looked like it was going to be too remote for us and the negative reviews so changed to this hotel. We booked as a package through easyJet Holidays which included a free private airport transfer each way and was pretty good value for money. I was slightly worried about the mixed reviews but take these with a pinch of salt andnlike to visit with an open mind. On arrival at the hotel, we had to complete a form to check in and pay the tourist tax (about £18) before being shown to our room. ROOM We were in a basic double room on the first floor on the front entrance side which had a view of the hills. Be aware, there are no lifts if you have mobility issues so you will want to ask for a ground floor room. The rooms open with a keycard and we were given one between the 2 of us. When booking I had requested a twin room and the room was set up with a double bed and 2 twin beds. The twin beds didn't have pillows or blankets on but we decided as the double was quite big that we would both sleep in that and it was really comfortable. There was one spare blanket and pillow in the wardrobe. We had plenty of room for both of us and ample cupboard/wardrobe space, a few more hangers would have been useful. There is a safe which you have to pay for (about £17 for the week) at reception to get a key to use it, this wasn't made aware to us at check in. There was also the option to pay a deposit for a pool/beach towel but it was cheaper to buy one from supermarket (or bring your own if you have room). The room had a small fridge, kettle and cups and a hairdryer. We didn't use it but if you wanted to use the kettle to make drinks you would need to get some milk from the buffet and I can't remember if there were tea bags/coffee sachets available. The air conditioning was good. The bathroom was a wetroom with 2 sinks, toilet and 2 showerheards - one on the wall and one on the ceiling. It had a basic toiletries - hand soap and an all in one shampoo/body wash. The door was frosted glass and has gaps at the top and bottom so not the most private but not the end of the world. The drains did smell in the bathroom after using the shower and it needed more hooks/shelves to hang towels and store things as being a wetroom everything gets wet which wasn't the most pleasant when showering second. There was no mirror in the room only in the bathroom which was annoying when getting ready if the other person was in the shower or when using the hairdryer. The maid came daily and did a good job at keeping the room clean and tidy. FOOD Breakfast had a good selection including cereals, breads and pastries, fruit, yogurt, freshly made pancakes, cold continental items and hot "English breakfast" items. The bacon and sausages are different which is to be expected. Lunch & dinner again had a varied selection of soup, breads, salads and hot foods such as pasta and rice dishes, meat and fish dishes, vegetables, pizza, chips and some kids options. A fresh cooking station had different options each day such as gyros, fajitas and fish. There were themed nights such as Greek, Mexican and Chinese. Desserts included little cakes and pastries, fruit and ice cream. There were a few vegetarian options but limited vegan options. We didn't use the snack bar which is available between meals but notified they had pancakes, pasta and salad pots, rolls and ice cream when walking by. You can also ask for a packed lunch salad if going out for the day which included a sandwich, apple and bottle of water. DRINKS Self serve coffee and juice machines are available in the restaurant along with self serve taps for water, beer and wine and big bottles of soft drinks to pour yourself. At the bars there are a variety of unbranded spirits, prosecco and cocktails that were all quite sweet. Drinks are available at the pool bar during the day and there seemed to only be one barman during the evening at the main bar so sometimes there could be a bit of a queue. We bought our own water bottles and kept refilling these for our days out and to have in the room. FACILITIES The daytime receptionist was really friendly and helpful, booking taxis and providing information e.g. bus times and visiting other properties. The main pool was always busy with no sunbeds available but we preferred the quiet pool as it was closer to our room and we could always find sunbeds. The pool was fresh to get into but once in after a few minutes was lovely. The restaurant is a bit of a free for all, you get your own table, drinks, cutlery etc. A couple of times we got a drink or cutlery to put on a table to reserve it while getting some food and by the time we got back it had been cleared away! There is no separate lounge/bar area for the evening, it's just the restaurant so after eating people generally stayed at their tables playing cards/games until any entertainment happened at about 9.15/9.30 which was about 4 times in the week - Greek dancing, Duo of singers, DJ/Karaoke and Latin night. We didn't stay to watch the entertainment. There is a pool table and air hockey that you have to pay for and table tennis that is free. We didn't use the spa. As part of the Zante Plaza scheme you can use their sister hotels. We went for lunch and sat around the pool at the Klelia Hotel which is about a 10 minute walk to have a change of scenery. We preferred the restaurant and food set up there even though the hotel seemed smaller. We also walked up the beach to Laganas and had a drink and sat around the pool at the Zante Plaza Hotel. We noticed each of the hotels had different cocktails so enjoyed trying them!! It's quite a good way of not spending money if you are out and about and on a budget. LOCATION The hotel is a 10 minute walk to beach which we visited to watch a beautiful sunrise and we walked down to watch the sunset and have a swim most days, there are sunbeds which cost about €10 for 2 with an umbrella and we also hired a pedalo with a slide which I think was €15 for an hour and can fit 4 people. There are also kayaks to hire. It is a 2 minute walk to the strip which has a few supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants. Lots of places were already closed for winter or were closing when we were there due to it being the end of the season. We ate out one night at Vinaz restaurant for their last night which was really good and had a delicious cocktail at La Luna bar as a treat. We also had lunch out twice as part of the trips we went on. It takes about 10 minutes in a taxi to the airport, Zante town and Laganas. The taxis were about €18 each way. We used Nefis Travel for trips that picked us up from the main strip who were absolutely brilliant and great value, highly recommend. Being the end of the season, the island was quieter which we liked although things like the reduced bus timetable, bars and restaurants being closed could be off-putting for some people. The weather was mid 20s for the week, we had a couple of windy/cloudy days but was still warm and the remainder of the time the sun was shining. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and the Exotica provided us with a good base for the week for our budget. I probably wouldn't return but only because I'd rather visit a another area of the island to be able to explore different places.

All in all not a bad hotel. Well situated for the beach and easy reach of the shops, bars and restaurants. Staff very friendly and food was good each meal time. All in all not a bad hotel. Well situated for the beach and easy reach of the shops, bars and restaurants. Staff very friendly and food was good each meal time. The weirdest bit was the rooms with the shower and toilets so close to the beds in the room, no real privacy at all but don't let it put you off. Hotel is a little outdated but nothing too bad.
