David, our butler for the trip was superb! We could not ask for better service than what David provided! From setting up our cabana each morning to making reservations for us, he provided top service to my group above and beyond our expectations.

What a great place and the staff! The restaurants and facilities are tops. Javier, Nahum, & Israel in Spice were always helpful. Marco and staff in Marie, Maria took good care of us. The entire campus was clean and well kept. You can't go wrong vacationing here.

Let me start out with 2 people I want to personally thank. Francisco Pacoc Loco from the Mediterranean Restaurant and Gerardo our bartender by the Mediterranean Restaurant! These two gentlemen came to work each day with smiles on their faces, friendly, professional and became friends! We had breakfast almost every day at the Mediterranean Rest and often lunch! Francisco would see us come in, welcome us to his section and get our drinks. No questions asked. He had remembered us and what we liked to drink at each meal. He also shared some stories about himself which we really enjoyed. He also arranged a special lunch for a group of us where the chef made us a wonderful meal and came out and explained each of the foods we were eating. We spend most of our time by the pool and Gerardo would ask if all was well, checked on us regularly and even knew the drinks we like and would say "Would you like the same?" With all of the people at the resort, it was great to have this kind of service! Please thank both of these gentlemen for us! As for the rest of the trip! The weather wasn't the best, but we made due and enjoyed the few nice days we had. Loved the shows at night and the time they are held. The shows are better than last time we went and very enjoyable! If Spice isn't quite your thing for Breakfast, head to the Mediterranean Restaurant! The food is great and it is a little quieter. Definitely schedule the 7 course meal dinner! You can't go wrong and the staff is outstanding and very friendly! We really enjoyed this experience. Azura is a must!!! Best to get there early as they are always busy! We had 3-4 meals there and all were outstanding! The rooms were clean and we loved the decorative towel animals that were left on our bed. We looked forward to that each day. Room service was nice and professional and we'd like to thank staff for that. Thank you for another great trip! The Italian Rest in the Grande Porto is OK. You have to have a reservation and don't bother getting there early as they will only seat you at exactly your time like 8:06. The food was OK, but kind of dry and lacked good Italian flavor. We had been there in the past and it was awesome and we couldn't wait to go back, but this time wasn't the best. Couple of items changed we weren't as happy with. Not a great deal, just something that we had expected and had not changed for the better. Being Platinum Members I thought maybe we'd have the same service as before. 1) In the past all of the liquor was top shelf at the bars. Now if you want more top shelf liquor, you need to go to the bars in the lobby. Example Makers Mark and Bombay Blue Sapphire. 2) They no longer provide liquor in the rooms and if you go to the late night bar, most of the liquor in there is gone or there are no mixers for the liquor . 3) The stocking of the late night bar was very weak. 4) Something for Real Mgmt to consider, on very warm days, staff should wear short sleeves and shorts. One day we had such a very hot day and I just felt terrible with how hot the staff looked.

This is a small hotel in playa del carmen, you can't compare it to the larger resorts simply because one: It has no beach, two it is a smaller category. However, they offer nightly shows, they do have transportation to the beach, they have a 24hr bar and they also have good food. If you are on a budget, if you don't mind not having the beach right off of the hotel and if you don't mind staying in a small hotel this will work for you.
