“This is an amazing hotel”

I’m sorry one or two previous travellers weren’t as happy as we are. We are currently here. I am on a lounger by the pool with lots of empty ones around, having had huge breakfast of bacon, egg, sausage, fruit and croissants! All staff smiley and polite. I have mobility problems and use a stick.... more

I’m sorry one or two previous travellers weren’t as happy as we are. We are currently here. I am on a lounger by the pool with lots of empty ones around, having had huge breakfast of bacon, egg, sausage, fruit and croissants! All staff smiley and polite. I have mobility problems and use a stick. Everyone has been amazing. It is the perfect place, in my opinion. Special mention for Yuth at Reception. Courteous and welcoming.

Stunning hotel amazing views we were only here three nights final part of a three centre holiday so just wanted to relax which we did. Room was good a bit of a walk to get there but big amazing shower and a few nice touches.We enjoyed our breakfast happy with selection,its not to bad going down to town but hard work coming back in the heat there is a free shuttle down to beach but would be good if was also some night service.We didn’t have a problem getting sun loungers but as I said only there 2 days.Not sure if it’s a 5*hotel expensive food and drinks had a meal on our last night most expensive meal we had in Thailand and not all that.Found most staff friendly not so much at reception a bit unapproachable talking amongst themselves. That said we did enjoy our stay.

We stayed at Cape Sienna for just over two weeks end of March / early April 2024, on a recommendation from family. There is no doubt this hotel is one of the best in the local area, its location on the cliffs overlooking Kamala beach is stunning! Each area of the hotel from the Vanilla Sky bar, Isola restaurant, pool and pool bar/ breakfast restaurant takes advantage of the views brilliantly! The architecture of the hotel is modernist and clever use of space and light creates a sense of calm and flow. The staff are so friendly, professional and helpful. We paid an extra £300 for a room with sea view and we were not disappointed. The rooms are of good enough size although having the wash basin in the main room and not separate is not a feature we are fans of! The breakfast offers great choice and is of great quality. Across the narrow main road is another part of the hotel called Sienna Rocks, a beautiful cafe w very welcome A/C, great menu and even better cocktails. It has steps down to another dip pool and a few sun loungers with parasols too. It does close at 5pm promptly! Given the standard of the hotel you can expect to pay far more for meals and drinks than down in the town! The town is a 10 minute walk away and comprises of a beach front with stalls, bars and restaurants. And a winding narrow street with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. The standard of toilets in the town are variable from unusable to good enough. We particularly like Shimmer Bar and Restaurant at the far end of the beach in Hotel Continental. The management of Cape Sienna are in danger of over relying on its stunning location and amazing staff as there are a few areas that require attention for this hotel to be able to truly consider itself 5-star! The availability of sun beds can be challenging and the situation with towels being left on beds by patrons who have no intention of returning to those beds is an issue! A simple towel card system would remedy this and works well in other 5 star hotels we have stayed in around the world. There are not enough staff on duty to keep the pool side tidy so often there is a build up of glasses (hardened plastic for safety!) poolside making it feel quite neglected! Poolside needs more mopping and cleaning. There were tiny ants on tables and around some of the detritus left by patrons. The hotel is at risk of looking dated if the standard of cleaning does not improve and you can already see areas where this is taking effect (see photos). Likewise the standard of cleaning in the rooms could be improved. First impressions of this hotel are amazing but the longer you stay the more the issues I have highlighted become noticeable. However, we would recommend the hotel and really hope the management can prevent the hotel from declining any further.

4-star not 5-star but… We have just finished travelling various locations in Thailand and this was our final stop for 4 nights - in comparison it was our least favourite but generally still a nice hotel. Upon arrival, there is a breath-taking view when you enter the reception and you are greeted with a welcome drink and cool towel. The receptionists were friendly but did talk extremely fast so didn’t catch most of what was said. Our room was nice which a lovely view of the sea. We were in building 1 which isn’t a far walk, but still had to walk a few minutes to get to breakfast & the pool. We would have preferred to have been in the same building. Breakfast - after reading previous reviews, we were hesitant to what we were going to expect but we enjoyed it! There was a range of hot food, cereals, fruit & yoghurt, pancakes/waffles, pastries, etc. Pool - the pool size was absolutely big enough. There are 2 pools but we only used the one in the hotel’s main building not the infinity pool at the cafe. The hotel also had a mini infinity jacuzzi but it wasn’t very clean and all the grouting was badly done trying to cover up leaks - and it was still leaking. There were no problems with sunbeds - we found one every day on the days we were sunbathing. They also had poolside service which was great when it worked. Rooftop Bar - we enjoyed watching the sunset from the rooftop bar. The drinks are pricier than the usual beach bars but it’s what you’d expect from a hotel price. We asked to sit by the glass edge so we had a better view but were told no because they were reserved - we sat there for a couple of hours until it was completely dark and nobody turned up. There was at least 5 tables by the glass edge which were free all night so that felt disappointing. The drinks were nice though and they do love frozen ice! Location - it is a 10/15 minute walk to Kamala Beach which was fine for us as we are young. It was uphill on the return but it’s not as awful as it’s made out. There was also a shuttle bus and plenty of taxi/tuk tuks around but we didn’t use them. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. ☺️
