Many, many thanks to the morning shift front desk staff at the Divani Palace Acropolis -- Natasha, Irene, and most especially Cosmas, who was the first to greet my daughter and I when we essentially wandered in off the street, looking for a safe hotel, after our belongings were stolen from our room at a nearby hotel while we were at dinner our very first night in Athens. Cosmas was warm, calming, kind and assured us we would be safe at the Divani Palace. He explained our situation to Nikos, the manager, who kindly upgraded us to a room with a view of the Acropolis. Natasha and Irene helped us with getting crisp copies of the many documents required by the US Embassy to replace my daughter's stolen passport. And needless to say, our room was safe, clean, and very comfortable, with a safe for our few electronics that were not stolen. And the toiletries provided in the room included a dental kit and much more, which were a godsend. Even under normal circumstances I would have found the Divani Palace to be a lovely place to stay, but in our trying situation it was welcoming and wonderful. Thank you all so much!!

“Great place to stay in Athens”

We spent four nights at this property during a recent visit to Greece. The hotel was excellent. The staff at the desk was extremely patient and helpful. We spent four nights at this property during a recent visit to Greece. The hotel was excellent. The staff at the desk was extremely patient and helpful. Our cab to the airport (very early flight) arrived as planned. The room was very nice and the balcony had a view of the Acropolis. I am not sure all rooms have the view, but we really enjoyed it. Our room was clean, well appointed, had plenty of outlets (not always the case in Greece) and a very good walk-in shower that was easy to navigate. The included breakfast was very good. We would definitely stay here again. The area around the hotel is interesting with lots of shops and restaurants and it is close to the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.

“Very enjoyable short stay.”

Welcomed by Cosmas and Mary on arrival to find that we had been upgraded to an executive suite! A small bottle of local Gin had also been supplied along with a box of Greek pastries, a very nice touch. Excellent breakfast, very happy with the service overall.

The position of this hotel is excellent. If you want to be close to the Acropolis, I would definitely recommend it. The position of this hotel is excellent. If you want to be close to the Acropolis, I would definitely recommend it. However, if you have a problem, be prepared for poor customer service and a serious lack of empathy, as you will see from all the hotel's comments in response to their negative reviews (& no doubt the response they will add to this one). They have a complete lack of understanding about how to resolve a problem and no concept of the importance of trying to keep guests happy. Their attitude is just that their hotel is great and it's their policy, take it or leave it! We booked direct with the hotel and had a strange issue where the hotel insisted on refunding the full payment on to our credit card (which we had paid 6months before) because we didn't have said credit card with us. We were then required to pay again on the card we did have with us. This was extremely inconvenient as you can imagine, and incurred a charge from the credit card company to accept euros. We weren't reminded to bring the original credit card at any point (although it was mentioned at the time of payment) and since the payment had gone through and was all done and dusted it seemed odd that this was a requirement. When we questioned this, the response was 'it's hotel policy-for security'. The hotel were unable to give us a satisfactory reason for being so rigid with a policy that made no sense in our particular situation. They had our passports so we were clearly who we said we were and our stay had been paid in full. Their inability to be flexible was extremely disappointing. Therefore I would advise you book with a tour operator (so you can pay however you like and not have to worry about strange policies!). Also be prepared for small rooms, tiny lifts (only one was working when we were there) and if you pay extra for an Acropolis view, be prepared to have to crane round to see it from your balcony (you can't see it from the room!).
