I really wanted to leave this place a good review, our initial impressions were fantastic! I thought to myself, what were all the bad reviews talking about?! But unfortunately several things with this hotel lets it down massively. However I will start with the positives, we arrived at 10am in the hope we could leave our luggage until check in time, but much to our surprise the member of staff checked us straight into a room! The room looked lovely when we got in and we had a nice balcony. Location is great, it's a short walk to the centre and about 10-15 mins to temple bar (I guess thats what you pay for - location). The other staff we met (apart from one) were helpful and friendly! The shower power and temperature is great. Came back to fresh towels and bedding daily. Hotel was quiet, even at night time considering the time of our trip. Negatives - the bed is AWFUL! Probably the most uncomfortable mattress and bedding I have ever slept on. The room wasn't that clean, there were many hairs around the sink, toilet and showers which didn't belong to us!!! The TV is temperamental. The breakfast room is so small that we went down one day and was refused a table (even though there was an empty one) unless we sat on one with someone else which is bizarre because you wouldn't sit with a stranger in a restaurant?! We managed to get a table at breakfast the next day but didn't have it again after that as it wasn't nice nor was it freshly cooked. Probably wouldn't stay again just purely for comfort reasons, plus it is pricey for what it is. Tip - don't attempt to get the bus back to the airport outside the hotel, it drove past us full twice, a stranger walked past and told us to go to the bus station, which is 2 mins walk down the road, we got one straight away!!

“Average guesthouse, good location”

Front desk (male) staff person was NOT pleasant or helpful upon my arrival. Room was decent though “worn” bathroom clean. Street noise goes until very late at night preventing decent sleep if you are in a street facing room. Breakfast was only Ok, language barrier issues making my order underst... more

Front desk (male) staff person was NOT pleasant or helpful upon my arrival. Room was decent though “worn” bathroom clean. Street noise goes until very late at night preventing decent sleep if you are in a street facing room. Breakfast was only Ok, language barrier issues making my order understood. The only nice thing is the location, easy walking distance to O’Connell street and Temple Bar. Wouldn’t go back.

“dublin mini break”

went to Dublin with 3 of my adult children for my birthday stayed at the glen guest house in a 3 & 2 bed rooms. rooms were generally clean & breakfast was worth the money & reception was always available. My only issue was the distance from centre but I am not fully fit so it took me over 10 mins... more

went to Dublin with 3 of my adult children for my birthday stayed at the glen guest house in a 3 & 2 bed rooms. rooms were generally clean & breakfast was worth the money & reception was always available. My only issue was the distance from centre but I am not fully fit so it took me over 10 mins to Spire & 20-30 to temple bar.
