“A piece of heaven on earth”

This hotel was far above what we expected. The grpunds are beautifully maintained. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The catering is varied and wholesome. The peace is refreshing as is the pool. The shuttle service to beach and town is very welcome.

There is a free shuttle to the beach, restaurants and spieghtown and a complimentary glass bottom boat tour. definitely a little slice of paradise

A return visit for myself and my sister. Firstly the positives. A peaceful oasis in grounds that are kept so beautifully by the lovely gardener and his team, he even bought us fresh coconuts and the water was so refreshing. We had a suite which was kept so clean and tidy by the wonderful ladies from housekeeping and was decorated in traditional Caribbean style, some would say dated, we say charming. The pool area was just lovely, kept clean and tidy and plenty of sunbeds, however this didn’t stop some guests putting their towels on beds at 6am, and there really was no need. The staff are what really makes a difference to this place though. Shout out to, Sharron,Tameka,Nerine, Mitilene, Akeel,Rohan,Gregory,Brianna, a young waiter with cornrows ( forgot his name!), the lovely gardener and last but not least, Ryan from housekeeping/maintenance who is 7 feet of sunshine! Also the lovely ladies who cooked eggs for my sister every morning with a smile on their faces. Now the negatives, and there really are only a couple in our opinion. The food on the buffet nights was in our opinion, not up to standard and often cold. In the restaurant on the nights it was à la carte, it was very good, plenty of choice. Breakfast was also plentiful choices and very good. We were all inclusive which I believe is now stopping and I think it will put people off staying. I think you can get better value for money at other places and this is a big factor in the current economic climate. We don’t know if we will return, partly because of this but thanks to the people we have mentioned, and a few more we have a wealth of lovely memories of our two stays at the Sugar Cane

“Too remote, some staff issues”

The hotel is remote, about half a mile from the beach and too far/hilly to walk. They provide infrequent shuttle buses during the day, but nothing at night, so you're stranded with no easy access to the bars and restaurants in town. The hotel is remote, about half a mile from the beach and too far/hilly to walk. They provide infrequent shuttle buses during the day, but nothing at night, so you're stranded with no easy access to the bars and restaurants in town. The rooms are big but run down and in need of refurbishment. The hot water may or may not work, no idea why. The staff range from really great like Sharon and Gregory, to some that are totally unacceptable and unsuited to this type of work. We were all inclusive and the food ranges from good in the main restaurant, to inedible on barbecue nights. The gardens are lovely and well kept and the gardeners very friendly and helpful. Overall though, considering the remoteness, room standard and staff attitude, I won't be returning to this hotel, especially now as they are closing the all inclusive option. There are just too many downsides to this property for me to want to go back again, and I'll be looking elsewhere.
